08/10/1970 J Proceedings of Civil Service Board meeting held August lOt 1970. The Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Monday evening, August 10, 1970 in the Civil Service office at City Hall. Members prescnt: Armand J. Falzone, Cal Blackstone, Donald o. McFarland William A. Ramsey and A. Clifton Stephens. Guests: Mr. Gerald Weimer, Assistant City Manager, Chief Frank Daniels Police Department, ~~s. Catherine Stewart, League of Women Voters and Mr. Stewart. Chairman Falzone called meeting to order. Mr. Blackstone moved that the minutes of th~ meeting of July 13, 1970 be approved. Seconded by Mr. Stephens and motion carried. , \ Director reported on certifications and appointments. Director reported on assembled examinations conducted. Director reported on lay-offs, suspensions and dismissals. No Board action necessary. Mr. McFarland moved that the Board approve Director's recommendation that the classification of Incinerator Supervisor be adjusted from Range 54, $285 hi-weekly to Range 58, $314 hi-weekly. Seconded by Mr. Ramsey. Motion carried. - 2 - Civil Service Board meeting August 10, 1970 "2. Mr. McFarland moved, that the Board approve City Manager's request to e~l8blish one (1) additional position of Janitor. Range 26, Salary $144 bi-week1y in the Community Cente~s Division of the Parks & Recreation Department. Seconded by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. 3. Mr. McFarland moved that the Board approve City Manager's request to establish a new classification of Junior Utilities Engineer, Range 4B, Salary $246 bi-weekly in the Utilities Department. Seconded by Mr. Blackstone and motion carried. 4. Mr. McFarland moved that the Board approve City Manager's request to abolish the classification of Utilities Engineer, Range 54, Salary $285 bi-weekly in the Utilities Department. Seconded by Mr. Ramsey. Motion carried. 5. Director asked the Board for approval to place Bobby Garretson in Range 60, ,Step 2, as Water Superintendent in accordance with provisions of the Executive , Section of the pay'Plan. Mr. McFarland moved that this matter be tabled until the next meeting and that the Utilities Director be asked to attend the meeting to discuss this proposal. Seconded by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. 6. Director asked Police ,Chief Daniels to explain ~o the Board why he felt that a new classification of T~affic Enforcement Officer was needed. After discussion, Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board approve request from City Manager to establish a new classification of Traffic Enforcement Officer, Range 40, $203 bi-weekly in the Police Department.
