The. Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Monday evening,
March 13 t 1967 at 7: 30 P 1M. in the Civil Service Office at City Uall.
Mcmberu prescnt: George H. Dalby) Chairman, R. MI Thompson, Sr., John Starr,
and Harold Wallace.
Observers: Mrs. Mary Ann Lirott League of Womcn Voters.
Mr. Thompson moved that the minutes of thc meeting of February 13, 1967 be adopted
as written. Seconded by Mr. Wallace and motion carried.
Director mentioned that a new Data Processing Supervisor, William McCal1t had
been selected.
Mr. Starr moved that the resignations of Howard Colvin, Data Processing Supervisor,
Finance Department, Michael Agrifoliat Janitort Central Services Department,
Thomas Van de Hatert, Laborer, Gas Division, Utilities Department, Curtis Brownt
George Harris and E. C. Richardson, Laborers, Parks & Recreation Department,
Karen Olivit, Recreation Assistant, Parks & Recreation Department, Mary Etta King,
Maid, Parks & Recreation Departmentt William R. Johnson, Wyart Willburn, and
Samuel Brownt Refuse Collectorst Refuse Division, Utilities Department, James L.
Hughes, Laborert Public Works Department, Burton L. Barry, Instrument Man,
Engineering Department, Willie H. Christian, Meter Reader I, Utilities Department,
Herman H. Schultzt School Patrolman, Mary Lou Brownt Clerk II, Police Departmentt
Harley E. Kelley, Communications Clerk 1, Fire Department and Franklin C. Feckley,

Mr. Thompson moved that the Board grant the request of the City Manager to
establish a new position of Automated Data Processing Trainee, Range 18t in the
Data Processing Divisiont Finance Department. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion
carried.
Director mentioned to the Board that four police applicants had been accepted this
year so far - this is the same number accepted for the entire year of 1966. If
qualified applicants continuet the police department should be close to full
strength by the end of 1967.
After a lengthy discussion, Mr. Wallace moved that the Board approve amending
Paragraph 1 on Page 9 of our current Pay Plan by increasing week-end stand-by
pay for Electrician-Lineman I from $8.00 to $12.00 and to approve amending
Paragraph 2 on said Page 9 by increasing week-end stand-by pay for E1ectrician-
Lineman II from $11.00 to $18.00. Seconded by Mr. Thompson. Motion carried
unanimously.
Director reminded the Doard that Mike Laursen was due for salary increase

consideration on January 27 f but because Hike had been given an equalizing
increase last August, there are no bUdgeted funds at this time. lie further
reminded the Board that there was a budget provision for a possible salary
increase ford the Director and he would like to usa this money to increase
Mike's salarYt and if the Board wished, funds could be included in the 1967-68
budget for an adjustment to the Director's salary. After discu8Bion~
Mr. 'Thompson moved that Mr. Laursen get a salary increase of $20.00 bi-weekly
starting March 20t 1967. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion carried.
Director told Board members that it was time for the annual dinner of the'
o Civil Service Board members and if agreeable to all members~ it will be set
up for sometime during the month of March.

applicants would be hold on Saturday, March 18, starting at 8:30 A.M.
