I l.'roceedingB of the Civil Service Board meeting held December 12, 1966. .--..- The Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Handay evening, December 12, 1966 at 7: 30 P .H. in the civil Service Office at New City Hall. Members prescnt: George H. Dalby, Chairman, R. M. Thompson, Sr. and John Starr. Observers: Hr. Jack Reagan, Harbormaster. Mr. Thompson moved that the minutes of the meeting of November 14, 1966 be adopted as written and also the minutes of the executive session held immediately fQllowing the regular meeting on that date. Seconded by Nr. Starr and motion carried. Director reported on assembled examinations conducted. Director reported on certifications and appointments. Director reported on lay~offs and d~smisBals. No Board action necessary. Mr. Starr moved that the resignations of Clarence E. Corcoran, Janitor, Central Services Department, Gilbert W. Cook, Meter Reader I, Utilities Department, Arthur L. Williams, Refuse Collector, Refuse Division, Utilities Department, Lu Stockwell, Payroll Clerk II, Finance Department, Paul Curtis, License Inspector, .Finance Depal:tment, Dwight N. Cutler, Equipment Operator, Public Works Department, Joe G. Taylor, Laborer, Parks & Recreation Department, Barbara Tobler, Clerk I, Police Department, Sue Snider, Clerk I, Police Department and William Crowson, Janitor, Central Services Department be accepted. Seconded by Mr. Thompson and motion carried. Mr. Thompson' moved that the Board grant the request of the City Manager to abolish one position of Sewage Plant Operator I in the Collection Section, Sewer Division of the Public Works Department and re~establish it in the Disposal Section of the Utilities Department to cover the position now h~ld by Mr. Perry Walker. Seconded by 1'lr. Starr and motion carried. Mr. Starr moved that the City Manager's request to establish a position of Utilities Engineer, Range 49, in the Utilities Department be approved. Seconded by Mr. Thompson and motion carried. Mr. Thompson moved that the Board ratify the Director's action in approving the. extension of emergency appointment of William Stopher until the new position of Utilities Engineer can be filled as the result of an e~amination which will be . held as soon as legal advertising requirements can be met. Seconded by Mr. Starr. Motion carried. 'Mr. Starr moved that the Board ratify the Director's action in extending emergency appointment of Walter Kosiba, Laborer in the Police Department, for an additional '60 days. Civil Service Board Moating December 12, 1966 Mr. Thompson moved that the Uoard approve the City Manager's request to establish one additional position of Laborer, Range 18, in the Parking Meter Enforcement Section of the Uniform Division, Police Department. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion carried. .; Director told Board that after lay~off from emergency appointment, Mr. Kosiba would be put into the additional position of Laborer. Mr. ,Thompson moved that the Board grant the request of the City Manager to abolish one full time position of Janitor, Range 15, and establish two part- time 'positions. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion carried. 'Mr. Starr moved that thel Board grant the City Manager's request to establish one additional position of Clerk I, Range 17, in the Juvenile Section, Investiga- tion Division, Police Department. Seconded by Mr. Thompson. Motion carried. Director read,letter from Parks and Recreation Director stating that they would ,like to hsvc another six-week series of Baton Twirling lessons given by Miss',Shirley Rousseau. The Board members agreed that this series was all right with them.
