¢ Proceedings of the Civil Service Board meeting held Monday, June 6, 1966.
} The Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Monday evening,
June 6, 1966 at 7:00 F.M. in the Civil Service Office at New City Hall.
Members present: George H. Dalby, Chairman, R. M. Thompson, Sr., Harold Wallace,
John Starr and Donald 0. McFarland.
Observers: Mr. James R. Stewart, City Manager.
Meeting called to order by Chairman Dalby.
;.:,. Mr. Wallace moved that the minutes of the meeting of May 9, 1966 be adopted as
printed. Seconded by Mr. Thompson and motion carried.
Director reported on assembled examinations conducted.

on lay-offs and dismissals. No Board action necessary.
F Mr. Thompson moved that the resignations of Toynette Lee, Library Page, Libraries
Department (PPT), Linda Henry, Recreation Assistant, Parks and Recreation
Department (PPT), Douglas Ingram, Laborer, Parks and Recreation Department and
Leila Rens, Clerk I, Police Department be accepted. Seconded by Mr. McFarland

Mr. Thompson moved that the Board grant the City Manager's request to establish
a new position of Parking Meter Mechanic, Range 30, in the Police Department,

;•„?;`.,:,'.'; Mr. McFarland moved that the Board grant the City Managers request for the
abolishment of one position of Gas Plant Attendant in the Gas Division of the
Utilities Department. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion carried.
Mr. Starr moved that the City Manager's request to abolish the position of
S;;` :' :;:,•. assistant to City Engineer be approved. Seconded by Mr. McFarland. Motion
carried.
Mr. Thompson moved that the Board ratify the action of the Director in extending
the:emergency appointments of Irene Leonard, Clerk 1, Police Department and
William Stopher, Civil Engineer, Utilities Department. Seconded by Mr. Starr and
°,• motion carried.
Mr. Thompson moved that the Board grant the City Manager's request to establish
.:;. a temporary Clerk I position in the Libraries Department. Seconded by Mr. McFarland "t

Mr. McFarland moved that the Board grant the request of Diane Lott for early

return from maternity leave of absence effective May 23, 1966. Seconded by
Mr. Starr and motion carried.
Director pamsed out budget schedule to Board members. He told members that
extra money would have to be allocated for advertising since the Clearwater Sun
is willing to run the examination notices once, but it will have to be paid
advertising the second time. Additionally, because of the tight labor market,
it is becf)ming increasingly necessary to run help wanted.classified advertising.
It will also be necessary to have additional funds budgeted for overtime pay-
',r:' ., . meet when overtime is •. necessary. The
practice of allowing compensatory time
off will most likely be discontinued and employees will be paid for such I
overtime instead.
