The Law does not require, and it haa not been the practice, to grant a leave of absence or to hold a position where they voluntarily enlist in the Armed Services. Direetor sa1dthat it is possible for a man to enlist when it is almost time for him to be drafted, serve two months and be back on the job, but this will obligate ,bim,to six years in the National Guard and this means that plus the two weeks training every Bummer. he must attend at least one evening meeting every week. If this man is on an evening shift, it means someone will have to work in his place every week. This is true in the Pol1ce Department, Fire Department and ,Sewage Plant. Therefore, it is not quite as silltple as saying) "you are on lellve , 'of ,absence and we wi 11 take you back." ,f':'.., , 'i,: ' \", " ,[.:,. , ~}fi' , ~\?O' +~ ,. ........, \ rh~ '.., . j'I',' , ht\ ~~.\ ~ ..) ~::}\:,',~ , ;1-/ \;1\\"" . ,'.
