04/12/1965 Proceedings of the Civil Service Board meeting held Monday, April 12, 1965. The Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Monday evening, April 12, 1965 at 7:30 P.M. in the Civil Service Office. Members present: George H. Dalby, Chairman, R. M. Thompson, Sr., John Starr, Harold Wallace and Donald McFarland. , Observers: Mrs. Raphael F. Van Tassell and Mrs, Samuel J. Roberts, League of ' Women Voters. Mr. Thompson moved that the minutes of the meeting of March 8, 1965, be accepted as written. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion carried. Director reported on assembled examinations conducted. Director reported on certifications and appointments. Director reported on lay-offs, suspensions and dismissals. No Board action indicated. Mr. Thompson moved that the resignations of Ted R. Williams, Steven A. Helm, and James Neal, Patrolmen, Dorothy shideman, Clerk I, Police Department, James McIntosh, Communications Clerk II, Police Department, J. L. Cummins, Laborer, Parks & Recreation Department, John Tipton, Sewage Plant Attendant, Utilities Department, Kenneth R.-Lewis, Firefighter, Fire Department, David T. Spaulding, Firefighter, Fite Department, Hilda Hershey, Clerk 1, City Clerk's Office, Carol Ann Nichols, Recreation Supervisor I, Parks & Recreation Department, Lynn Peck, Gas Plant Attendant, Utilities.Department, be accepted. Seconded by Mr. Starr and motion carried. Director discussed the case of Clarence Darcus, Maintenance Tradesworker I with the Board. Mr. McFarland moved that the resignation of Mr. Darcus be accepted. Seconded by Mr. Wallace. and motion carried. Director read letter from Mr. Darcus asking that his resignation be withdrawn and his name placed on the re-employment list. Mr. McFarland moved that Mr. Darcus' request for withdrawal of his resignation be approved and his name be placed on the appropriate re-employment list. Director read contemplated change in sick leave which has arisen due to the change in fireman's hours. He asked the Board to give it some thought and suggested that it be voted on at a later date.. . Board members discussed the Rules and Director explained that he intended to give a copy of the Rules to each department head and they will be available to employees if they have a question. The Rules will be in loose-leaf form and any changes will be forwarded from the Personnel Office to the department heads so that all books will be kept up to date.
