The Clearwater CLvil'Scrvicc Doard met in regular session Monday evening, March 8,
1965 at 7:30 P.M. in the Civil Service Office.
Members, present: George n. Dalby. Chairman, R. M. Thompson, Sr. and John Starr.
Observers: Mr. James R. Stewart. City Manager, Mra. Rosalie Day and Mrs. L. Poveny,
League of Women Votero.
Mr. Thompson moved that the minutes of the meeting of February 8, 1965 be adopted
as written. Seconded by Hr. Sta1:'l:' and motion carried.
Director reported on assembled examinations conducted.
Director reported on certifications and appointments.
Direct~r reported on lay-offs, suspensions and dismissals. No Board action indicated.
Mr. Starr moved that the resignations of Philip N. Bump, Laborer,' Public Works
Department, John Witt, P.J. Valentin. C. L. Harrell, Laborers, Parks & Recreation
Department, Robert C. Miller, Equipment Operator, Parks & Recreation Department)
Priscilla Jones, Recreation Assistant, Ray E. Henderson, School Patrolman, Oliver'
H. Anderson, Inspections Supervisor, Engineering Department~ Joseph D. Phillips,
Firefighter, Merritt D. McGee, Distribution Serviceman 1, Water Division, Warren,
M. Bair and Russell D. lleptinstall, Rodmen, Engineering Department and David G.
Ballance, Electrician-Lineman I, be accepted. Seconded by Mr. Thompson and motion
carried.
Director read letter to the Board from Clarence Darcus, Maintenance Tradesworker I,
requesting a Leave of Absence for 30 calendar days. Mr. Darcus has been on
vacation without pay for three months due to a leg injury and it is necessary for
hLm to have further examinations and treatment. Mr. ThoD~son moved that Mr. Darcus
be given this 30 day Leave of Absence. Seconded by Mr. Starr. Motion carried.
Mr.',Dalby, Chairman of the Board, congratulated the Personnel Di1;ector and his
Assistant, Mike Laursen, for the splendid ,",ork they are doing on the Job Analysis
and Evaluation. Director said he felt that the city would come up with a good
set of job descriptions at the completion of this Analysis.
Mr. 'Thompson told the Board that he felt Mrs. Sydnor, Secretary to the City Manager
was one of the best public relations persons there was in the City and all agreed.
Mr. Starr moved that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Mr. Thompson.
