The Planner reported on ~ecent conference held with City personnel by Mr. Wallace Payne, regional coordinator of Federal programs for the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, concerning the City's application for a planning grant under the Federal 701 program. It was learned that the application was to include an increaged amount of $13~000 for in- depth dot-mtot-m planning funds and that the City COlTmiss ion at its February 17 meeting had formally appro'ved ClenT't.-lrltcr' s 70 1 application .for uT'ban !. planning funds based on an estimated cost of $"9~500 for updating the City's ~aster pJ.an and .providing for a second-phase detailed study of the downtown area. The Board continued its review and discussion of the subject loop connector, In the scope of the discussioll favo~able consideration was given 'to a recommendation by Mr~ Wolle th~t prior to finalization of plans that a study should be made to set up special zoning criteria as a guide to development of the proposed fill areas and to a suggestion by the Chait'man thclt the Board might approach the matter on the basis that the information the Board has received has been so indefinite that the Board would want to defe~ any comprehensive review of the sit\1ation other t}lan to make a suggestion regarding zoning and ~ossibly regarding the reservation of the properties on the Hest side of the proposed road for public use.
