THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD
Minutes of the Meeting, Tuesday, April 26, 1966~
The meeting was called to order at 3; 30 P. M. .by the Chairman ~
Mr. Kruse~ Present were Members ,Butler, My1ander, Harries, Williams,
Iley and Galloway, Mr. Rettig of the Engineering Department, and
Mr. Wolle.
The minutes of the meetings of April 5, 1966, and April 12, 1966,
were approved as submitted in written summation to each member.

The Board reviewed site plan for this service station, together with
photograph submitted of a typical style of construction. The Planner
made explanation that:
Station was to be located on lot in McVeigh Subdivision rezoned
to II B" at the last Zoning Public Hearing "
He had already submitted the plans to the Asst. City Engineer
who had written in his comments.
Traffic tlanner Lecouris had looked at the plans and both he
(Mr. Woll ,) and Capt. Lecouris had made inquiry of the City's
Lega" )pn+ to see if an" ,. '~di tional cutback might be required
at tile l.Iltersection for Lng movements, but they found
that the ci ty did not " ~my St. Road Dept. plans for approval
as yet in connection ,. _~" the proposed widenin g of Missouri
Ave. in this sector.
Consideration was given to the above explanation and to other infor-

matioo as to features and facilities as proposed. Mr. Wolle recom-
mended that the Board approve the site plan subject to any State Road
Department' requirements for addi tional right-of-way at the Druid-
Missouri intersection and subject to the maximum number of approaches
on Missouri Av~. as being two. The Board voted tha~ the Pl~nner's
recommendation ~e approved, with further recommendation thai appro-

priate provisions be made for maintenance of parkway and al1ev adja-
cent to this site_by the abuttinR commercial users.

SERVICE STATION ORDINANCE - DISCUSSION AND RCPORT - The Planner
discussed with the Board reference materials which had been made
available to the Committee and to members and their possible applica-
tion tO'revision of the proposed ordinance unrler study. The Planner al-
so displayed for the Board's informati.on a Planning Office revised
service station location map which is in process of prepa~ation and ex-
plained the legend references. It was learned that this was proposed
to principally serve as an exhibit to accompany the revised ordinance
to be submitted. It was arranged that Mr. Mylander would offer recom-
mendations for some suggested revisions to be incorporated at the

next meeting and that copies of the ordinance in final for'm as had
been submitted to the City Commission in January of 1964 would be
'sent (for study) to those members who did not have a copy.

UPPER PINELLAS COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION PROGRAM - MID-COUNTY
CROSS BAYOU CANAL AREA - It was announced that Ar~ tranK
Blandford, Director of the Pinellas County Planning Department, would
discuss this Summary Report and present exhibits of this study the
evening of April 26th at 7:30 P. M. in the Clearwater Federal and Loan
Association Building assembly room. Board members were co~dially in-
vited to attend this meeting.
EXHIBITS COMMITTeE FPZA CONFERENCE - In connection with the FFZA
Annual Conference to be held in Clearwater Nov. 9-12 of 1966, Chair-
man Kruse appointed as an Exhibits Commi ttee ~ Members vii 1) iams, Chai r'-
,~) man, Iley and Galloway~ The Planner outlined the scope of the Com-
mittee's assignment and offered some of his ideas as to types of ex-
hibits that might be planned~ He indicate.d that some technical assis-
tance would be available from his staff if needed.
