~~, Tho meeting wan cailed to order at 3: 00 P. 11. by the Chairman t
Mr5 Kruse. Prcnent were Members Reade, Butler, Iley, Mylander,
Williams and Swan, Mr. Rettig of the Engineering Department, and
Mr. 'Wolle.
The minutes of the meetings of May 10, 1965, and June 1, 1965.,
,were approved as submitted in written summation ~o each member.
Communication - Chairman Kruso read to the Board a communication

sent him by Member Iley containing a timely quotation of the poem,
"Billboards", written by Ogden Nasho It was agreed to forward an
informational copy to Mayor-Commissioner Tu~er.

M~. Wolle presented the application and desc~ibed the location of
the prope~ty and adjoining land U6eSD He further reviewed the zoning
history of the original zoning of this lot as R-ID and its change to
R-q zoning in 196~ (as one of 12 lota of request fo~ an intended use
as a church site). Mr. Wolle fu~her reported that a sign advertising
the steak house in the subdivision's community cente~ had been
erected on lot at the northeast COI"ner of 1:his same intersecti.on but
11ad recently been declared in violation and removed. He pointed out
~hat this lot 201, if ~ezoned to ~usiness, would be available for
such a sign. The Chairman read reason for request as stated in appli-
cation as: UTo conform with the contractural agreement between the
City of Clearwater and Blackburn Brothers Land Development Company

Such added business zoning is not needed at this location..
Ample "B" zoning is available on Gul'f-to-Bay, Nursery Road,
and Belcher..
Requested zoning would be spot zoning, giving the owner
privilege over other properties similarly located..
Business zoning would devalue adjacent residential zoned
property and is not in accordance ~o a comprehensive plan
of land uses.

be constructed.. At present we have permissive use for parking on this
land - however we need the space to extend the building into this area
as well as the parking and financing cannot be obtained on this size
project where land is under permissive use only. It must have the

In review and discussion, concern was expressed that this shop-

The Planner presented these proposals, together with an added
proposal to rezone the Sunset Pt.. Road "B" S1:I"ip adjoining "the plat
of Brentwood Estates back to PRS. In some preliminary discussion,
~r. Mylander recommended against unilateral action by the Board.

these proposed changes should first be ascertained rather than have

behalf of the Board, he partioularly thanked Mro Rettig for his in-
terest and advice on engineering matters and commended Mrq MylanderJ
legal member of the Board, for his contribution of many hours of
committee work in consultation with the PlannerD The Chairman advised
that the principal activities ~o be pursued during the next few
months would be in connection with the new sign o~dinance proposal
and a housing improvement progr.'am. MembeI's were informed i'hat in-
quiry had been made as to seouring a copy of the new housing legis-
lation fo~ Pinellas and KKiK~<<a incorporated areas, but that ~he
City Attorney's office did not as yet have complete information on
this bill that was passedo
Mr. Kruse further reported concevning a request made at a meeting
of the Bi-Racial Committee the previous Wednesday fo~ a survey to
be made of the area east of Pinellaa High School for possible ex-
pansion of th~ Holt Sto Youth Center facilityu
