J. Report on ZoninQ Referendum
Mr~ Wolle Summarized for the board the zoning referendum ordinance changes and
district changes as they were approved or disapproved by the Commission for the
coming referendum. Haps were'displayed indicating these changes.
2. Report on Crest lake Park
A report was made concerning Commission discussion of the recommended site of the
proposed battery of tennis courts at Crest lake Park. A Commission referral was
made to the Zoning & Planning Board and the Parks & Recreation Advisory ~oard for a
.jolnt hearing-meeting to be announced and held to determine a fin~l recommendation
concerning the tennis court site. Date by the board was tentatively set as
Thursday, December 4th.
3. Florida Development Corrmission Letter
Contents of a letter from the Florida Development Commission to the Mayor was pre-
s=::,rto~'! rt;~tlng the 01 fmlnation of Clearwater frem the planning assistance program
of the Federal Government due to ~ cut in.this appropriation.
4. ~chool Pl~ntin9 Project
Mr. Kruse reported on meetings held with the high school offtclnls and representa-
tives of the PTA concerning planting of palms along Gulf-to-O~y. Mr. AI Rogers'
offer of palms from an area north of Highland ^vc. and Sunset Point Road had been
surveyed by the group and by Mr. Virgil Dobson of the Parks & Recreation Dept.

Thore wns discussion of the ImportnneD of this pr~ect with general opinion that
only a limited coordination of the opar~tion should bo the responsibility of the
Zoning & Planning Board, Motion was passed to this effect.
5. Housing Code
Mr. Wolle and Mr. Levison discussed a summary of aceompl ishments of the Sarasota
Housing Program as well as code enforcement. The planner was directed to get the
Sarasota code and the housing committee to follow up on a study of a possible
procedure in initiating a housing improvement program for Clearwater.
6. Preparation of Harland Bartholomew Report
Mr. Wallo reported that a preliminary draft of the first report on Economic Base
& Population had been submitted by the Harland Bartholomew office. This was to
be reviewed by the planner and the chairman and returned with comment, It was
further reported that the cover design would require some art work; Mr. Harries
offered his services in this matter.
