Rettig of the Engineering Department.
The meeting opened at 3:00 P.M. with Mr. Lavison presiding and the
minutes of September 12, 1957'were approved.
Dh-. Leonard Merrell of 726 Bay Esplanade, owner of the Cove Aptsa
and Mr. Liman appeared to present their views on parking facilities
that should be provided with all new construction on Clearwater Beach.
Mr. Merrell is alarmed about the construction of a motel neap. his
building for which inadequate off-street parking is provided. He sug-
gested limiting the amount; of living space per unit of ground area,
that oi-m6rs of buildings should ?e required to provide offs-street park-
ing space for the number of accupants and that building, permits should
be refused unless these conditions are met., The Chairman explained
that the Planning Board is advisory to the City Conw.ission and has no
z.
administrative authority. 14r. Rettig explained that the City had no
ordinance under v,hich the :bmnediate problem presented by Mr. Merrell
can be solved.
After some discussion the Chairman requested Afro Galloway and Mr.
Rettig to serve as a. committee to report at the next meeting ons
1: ordinances now in effect under which 24 hours parking and off-street
parking can be controlled, 2. Measures that should be taken to :improve
the situation and prevent; undesirable parkin? practices.
The Chairman gave a report to the Board on his di,scussi.on with
Mr. Lickton re arding the Fair Oaks Subdivision card the cometery which

There was no further business and the imeeting adjourned at .4:00 P.M.
