Sid Lickton, City Bnginet3 r acd Steve Dougl,ar; of the Clearwater Sun.
The meeting opened at 3,&20 P.M. and the minutes of the April 25th
meeting were approved as corrected.
Mr. Kruse road the memo to the City Sngineer concerning the Baskin-
Gates Tract and the matter vns discussed briefly,,
Mr. Kruse next', read a memo from the City Attorney concerning the
FPZA. legislation which the Plamiing Board requested the City Commission
to support. Mr. 1Crentzman stated he was not in favor of the City
sponsoring any of this legislation. No formal action was taken.
At the request of Dr. Center, the City Manager through the Building
Inspector asked the Board.gs opinion as to the extension of Oak Street.•
The request of Drs Center was not clearly understood and therefore, it
was moved, seconded and passed that Dr. Center be invited to attend
next week's meeting to state his request
Mr. Lickton next presented a drawing of the Vine Street -- Drew
Street intersection and asked the Board's opinion on rowiding the cornars
`. of Vine. Street and widening the west side of Vine 2,,5 feet. The Board
asked rise Lickton to consider widening Drew Street and a left turn lane
driving east and present the matter again next creek. Board Members were
requested to make field studies of this intersection befog-e next week's
meeting.4
The matter of the Pierce Street extension t-ias next discussed at the
request of the City Zng-neer. Nor. Lickton stated Uhat a public hearing
is coining up in two weeks .for the pavinrr of a portion off Pierce Stree=t

di.ecussion it. was moved, seconded and passed that the Board concur in
Mr. Lickton's thinking on the matter, providing the portion of Pierce
Street 'between Hillcreat Avenue and Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. is limited to
east-bound traffic and a right-turn deceleration or merging lane is prd -
vided at the Gulf-to-Bay Blvdo intersection. The extension of Pierce
Street as a "Collector Street" was included in the program defined by
MAster Roadway Plan I'M R Z" and is predicated on the acquisition of
adequate width and alignment of right-of--way particularly through the
area ,bettmen Greenwood and Missouri Avenues. The Board will recommend
to the City Commission that detailed studies be initiated by the City
Engineer insofar as possible-for the entire extension of Pierce Street.
