. The meeting opened at 3:00 P.M,. and the minutes of the April lhbh
meeting were approved.
It was moved., seconded and passed that decisions of the Planning
Board on applications, by ovaiers for convideration of matters in their
interests Should not be giv ed in -the prase-nce of the applicant until
after the Board has an opportunity to diacus3 the matter privately
and then the decision should be transmitted in vrriting to the City
Commission.
Messrs Al Rogers and Herb Hendricks appeared at the request of
the City Commission to present a plan for a new shopping center between
Gulf-to-Bay Blvd„ and Druid Road, east of Hercules and west of the Lake-
side Trailer Park. The site is owned by 21dridge, Al Rogero et;al, The
applicants, in their request to the City Commission, ignored in their
plot plan the potential extentions of both R.ogors and Turner Streets.
In view of this situation, the City Commission requested the Board to
review the plot plan as submitted. With the exception of a business
area along Gulf-to-Bay Blvd„ all of the property is in an R 1 zone and
certain property owners in the area are pro'tosting the proposed non-
conforming used
During the discussion Mr. Hendricks and Mr. Rogers agreed that they
vr-ould recommend -to the owners that landscaped buffer strips be provided
on Druid Road, Gulf-ta-Day Blvd. and on the east's boundary o the property
These would be so constructed as nut, to create a traffic hazard, Drive—
ways, deceleration l.anos and limited ac:coa8 to Druid iioa.d and Gulf-to-
Bay Blvd. were also discussed, The applicants also agreed to dedicate
sufficient area along the west side of thoiv property for a sixty font

that the Board would fox-ward its decisions and recommendations to the
City Commission. There was further discussion of tho matter after i4essrs
Rogers and Hendricks left and it was finally moved, seconded and passed
that the City Commission be advised that the plan was unacceptable but
w,
should be approved if the ownors would make certain changes which their
representatives had agreed to in the meeting of the Board. Cognizance
was also taken of the fact that dedication of' sufficient property would
be required for the widening of Druid Aoad in accordance with I'M R 1'1 o
The chairman was authorized to write a letter to the City Commission
giving the conclusions and recommendations of the Board a
The selection of a firm of profesuional planners to prepare the
Master Plan was next discussed and it was moved, seconded and passed that
Dire Singleton should be advised that if. a selection was not made by
May 1, he would be notified and invited to appear for an interview. It
was anmunced that Mr. Robinson representing Harland Bartholomew and
Associate, : and Messrs Carter, Bair and Albrecht would be interviewed
