Commissioner Strang, Acting Mayor; presided, opening the meeting at 2 : 15 P. ~1 . Mr. Kruse read the minutes of the previous meeting that had been held with Mr. Rogero on July 26, 1956. Mr. Kruse explained the proposed setback adjustment for undeveloped lots in existing subdivisions on "M R 1" streets .in the City with a viiew to having thern, adopted by the City. It was concluded that th is would be a de Qua te for a bridge of tho planned width. .... Mr. Kruse next asked for information on the routing of Alternate 19 through Clearwater by the StatE! Hoad Board. Nr. H.o~~ero replied that:. he did not believe this should be or co uld be finally decided until a traffic study is made. He stated tl1at the State Hoad Uoard has a, three year back~ log of traffic studies and that in order to eetthe work done promptly an . . independent firm of eneineers should be employed. Such a study should cover all of Pinellas County and would probably cost $50,0~n. The State Road Board will assume half the cost, the County would pay 25% and the remaining 25% would be divided between the municipalities involved. He thinks that Mr. Hester should head up the traffic project. He added that) since Clearwater' 5 need for information is so great, it mie;ht be advisable to make a study immediately of ,the Clearwater-Dunedin-Largo area before proceeding with the County-wide study and said the cost of this would pro- ~. , bably approach $30,000. r~1r. filOI'ris and IIiI'. November 21, 1956 Page 3 ~:.!. ~~", The Subject of Gulf-to-Bay and Highway 19 came up, Mr. Rogero said it will be necessary to separate the grades of these highways ,at t~e' intersection and that right-of-way should be acquired for this project ,'promptly. About 12 acres will be needed, of which 2/3 is in. the City and 1/3 is in the County. Mr. Strang commented that it will be necessary to have.an appraisal made and Mr. Rogaro said ~he State Road Board would make the appraisal. The meeting adjourned at 3:30 P.M. ~J>'~':'-,". . >>:L>..
