Joint meeting of City Commisoion Hnd Plannine Board.
Present were rviayor Brown, Commissionor.'3 Bohannon, Robert.s and Strang,
Planning Board members Kruse. Reade, Homer, Norton and Levison, City
Engineer Lickton, Nick Rompon of the City Engineer's Office, M.r. Middleton
City l-Ianager and City Attorney Krentzman.
Mr. Kruse opened the meetine; at 2:40 P.M. by explaining that the
Board felt that it should understand the objectives and w~shes of the
" Oi ty Commission in advance of the mee ting with the State Roa.d Board,
Friday, August 24th.. I~ayor Brown emphasiz ed that it was important to
present Clearwater's needs tactfully and to avoid pressuring the State Road
Board. He urged that we should endeavor to keep the meeting on a genial,
socially pleasant basis.. The Commissioners suggested that in discussing
specific projects, Ivlyrtle Avenue and the "lest terminus of High\'ray 60 might
we,ll be explained to the Board as plans for these projects have been
developed by the Planning Board. The Commissioners said that the City would
offer the State Road Board a site for the building "m~ch it is planning
to errect in Clearwater. They suggested that we postpone any discMssion
of Hercules Avenue but that it might be well to talk to Mel Conner, one
of the Road Board engineers, regardin~ the building of a bridge from the
faot of Drew Street to Memorial Causeway.
The meeting with the State Hood Board is to begin at 10: 00 A .r-l.
at the }i't. Harrison Hotel and the IlJ\ayor requested that all Planning Board
members try to be present.
Following the above, the members of the City Cornrniss ion left the meet-
;. ing and the Planning Board members remained for discussion of several

will involve obtaining some aerial photo~raphs and the preparation of
prespective drawings of specific areas. It was moved, seconded and
passed that a maxi~~ of $200 be appropriated from Planning Bo~rd funds
to obtain aerials, supplies, and drawings that may be needed for this pur~
pose.
Next it was moved, seconded and passed that the Board begin work
on a study of Clearwater Beach and Island Estates and finally prepare a
Master Roadway Plan for these areas to be designat,ed "t4\ R 21t.
Mr. Homer introduced a discus~ion of the Industrial Park and Mr.
Rompon presented a drawing showing industrial sites and roadways serving
them. After the discussion some minor modifications were agreed upon,
and the plan was approved..
The meeting a4journed at 4:30 P.M.
