06/21/1956 ~ , ~~S~ Minutes of meeting ThUr8da~ June 21, l~~b in Planning Board Of rice The meeting was called to order at 3:00 P.M. Present were members Kruse, Homer, Norton, Levison and Reade, City Engineer Lickton, Nick Rompon of the City Ehgineer's Office and Al Hackett of the St. Petersburg Times. Minutes of the June 7th meeting were approved. Chairman Kruse called for committee reports. Mr. Reade stated that he, Mr. Kruse, and Mr. Muscarella had had lunch together and gone over Ordinance 632 but that he would rather wait until Mr. Muscarella is here to report on their findings. Mr. Kruse then reported on the meeting held in the County Engineer's Office the morning of June 21st in which road plans of the different municipalities in Pinellas County were incorporated into the Countyts ~~ roadway plan. Present at this meeting were representatives from Dunedin, Belleair, Tarpon Springs, Indian Rocks, St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Beach, Clear~~ter and the County. Those from Clearwater were City Engineer LicktoD, Mr. Kruse and Nick Rompon of the City Engineer's Office. It was reported that there appeared to be no great conflict of the various municipalities desires in relation to the proposed County road net, and although there are certain local problems, it is felt that these can be overcome without much difficulty. After the County Engineer's Department has had an opportunity to review the proposals of the various municipalities it is probable that a further meeting will be held. It is the opinion of the Board that the purposes of the originally proposed Regional Plan- ning Board are now being promoted by this undertaking of the County Engineering Department. Considerable discussion then developed as to certain phasos of the "M R 1ft plan including the Myrtle Avenue situation and it wa~ finally 'Ii. .' . " ..' . I " . . 't,' . . . . '.' ~. 'F' I' ; June 21, 1956 Page 2 concluded that no revisions should be made to ItM R 1" and that this original drawing should receive the following validation by the City Clerkl i' , "Approved by the Clearwater City Commission on March 26, 1956, II and that the Board should go into detailed planning within the City limits only. Plans of these detailed studies should be called trM R 2" or ttM R' 1 a" etc. Mr. Homer suggested that detail studies be made now of those streets and intersections which require such consideration and that a priority list be set up of the most urgent situations. At this point there were discussions of several roads thought to be the most important at the present time. In order to implement "M R 1" the Board adopted a resolution recommending to the City Co~ni8sion that where rights-of-way conforming :- with "M R 1" have not been deeded to the City or the County that the :" :'.) building line setback be established to conform with the eventual right- \:' . of -way as re quired on ttM R 1 ff and Zoning regulations.. As suggested by Mr. Homer on May 24th the Board will have an anniversary luncheon next Thursday June 2$th~ Mr. Kruse is to arrapge for this luncheon and advise the members of the arrangements. Those to be invited are the City Commission, City Manager,_ City Attorney, City Engineer, Nick Rompon, Shirley Dobson and the press. The meeting then adjourned at 5:00 P.M.
