The original meeting of the newly-formed Planning Board opened at
4:25 P.M. on Friday, May 13th, in the City Hall Auditorium with the City
Clerk reading the minutes Qf tho City Commission meeting of May 9th, 1955,
pertaining to the appointment of the Planning Board members with }~. Arthur
Kruse named as Chairman for one year. The following members were present:
Messrs.. Arthur Kruse, Ralph \-1. B. Reade, R. B. Norton, Lew:1.s lIomer and
Frank Muscarella, Jr. The Cit1 Manage~ and the City Engineer were also
present. It was explained that Mr. Wm. E. Harries, the other Plamling
Board member, was out of town.
Mr. Kruse assumed the Chair and asked for nominations for Vice-Chair-

man. Mr. Lewis Homer was nominated for Vice-Chairman, by Mr. Reade. The
motion was seconded by Mr. Norton and was carried unanimously~ There
being no further nominations, Mr. Homer was unanimously eleoted as Vjce-
Chairman.
The Cha.irmanaSedfor nominations for Secretary. Hr. Homer nominated
Mr. Ralph Reade for Secretary. The luotion was seconded by Mr. Norton and
was carried unanimously. T~ere being no further nominations} Mr. Reade
was unanimously eleoted as Secretary.
The Chairman read a report submitted by him to the City Cowaission
last January (oopy of which is in the City Manager's files) which contained
some recQmmendations made as a result of his study and investigations as
an ex-orficio member of the Zoning Board.
The Chairman then read a statement as to the f'Wlctions of the Planning

Hr. Reade seconded the motion and it t,ms carl~ied unanimously.
The City Hanager offered to let the Plamdng Bo~!'(l llSC for its
headquarters spaco next to the Engine ering Department an(l the Board
by consent agreed to accept the spnce. It '~as ogreed t.hat. a l~equcst

It was deoided to hold meotings at 3:30 P.~[. on Thursdays of each
week with the next meeting to be held in the City lIall Auditorium.
~. Homer made a motion to place the Oity Oommissioners, the City

There being no further business to come before the Board, the

activities.

and Mr. Kruse requested Hr. Roberts to strike: it from his notes for
a report.' or the meeting that is to be publ:ishecl in the Slm.
