MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR PIT TRAININGMEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is entered into by and
between the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office and the Clearwater Police
Department. The MOU becomes effective with the signatures of both parties.
1. Purpose
This MOU establishes the procedures and responsibilities of the Pinellas
County Sheriffs Office and the Clearwater Police Department for PIT training.
2. Conditions and Procedures
The parties agree to the following conditions:
A. The Pinellas County Sheriffs Office agrees to provide PIT training
for Clearwater Police Department as follows:
1. A minimum of one (8 hour) PIT class per month starting
January 2005 an ending December 31, 2006 with a
maximum of 12 classes per year. Training will be provided
• on dates mutually agreeable to both parties.
2. Classes must contain a minimum of six students with a
maximum of twelve students.
3. The Pinellas County Sheriffs Office shall provide a minimum
of five certified PIT instructors.
4. The Pinellas County Sheriffs Office shall provide five to six
specially modified PIT cars to be used during each class.
5. Training will be conducted using the Sunshine Speedway
Strip.
B. As compensation, the Clearwater Police Department agrees to pay
the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office as follows:
1. Sunshine Speedway Strip Rental fee per class - $100.00
Fuel costs per class - 60.00

3. A minimum of five (5) PIT certified instructors at $33.00 per
hour for 8 hours per class. Additional instructors over the five
(5) minimum will be charged at $33.00 per hour.
*This rate may be adjusted if instructor position is backfilled or
to pay overtime. The adjusted rate would be based on $49.50
per hour.
4. Tires to be replaced as determined by the Pinellas County
Sheriffs Office @ $63.00 per tire.
C. The Pinellas County Sheriffs Office agrees to bill the Clearwater
Police Department on a class-by-class basis.
