INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT

This Agreement regarding child abuse criminal investigations is entered into between Help A
Child, Inc. (hereinafter known as HAC) and the Clearwater Police Department (hereinafter
known as CPD) to provide the following cooperative services:
1. The CPD agrees to refer appropriate cases of severe physical abuse and sexual abuse
involving children which come to their attention to HAC when HAC services are
required.
2. The CPD agrees to work cooperatively with HAC, in the common interest of the child
victim.
3. The CPD maintains full responsibility for final decisions regarding the criminal
investigation and arrests of any perpetrators.
4. The CPD agrees to participate in the HAC staffings when appropriate.
5. The CPD agrees to keep HAC reports confidential, as per statutes.
6. HAC, in accordance with Florida Statute Ch 39.303 regarding Child Protection Teams,
agrees to provide forensic medical evaluations and consultation regarding children who
are alleged to be abused or neglected, family psychosocial evaluations, psychological
evaluations, forensic interviews, and multidisciplinary staffings, when warranted.
7. HAC agrees to provide crisis intervention and short-term therapy to children who are
victims of abuse and/or have been exposed to significant violence.
8. HAC agrees to provide referrals and referral information for child victims and non-
offending caretakers for outpatient mental health services and psychological evaluations
as indicated.
9. HAC will make its facility available to CPD investigators for purposes of interviewing
victims and/or witnesses, conferencing with HAC staff and having confidential
communications with other entities..
10. HAC agrees to provide Child Protection Team reports to CPD upon request.
11. HAC agrees to hold information shared by CPD confidential.
This agreement is mutually entered into by Help A Child, Inc. and the Clearwater Police
Department on this, the day of February, 2008. This agreement can be terminated by
either party within thirty (30) days written notice.
