01-27 '. . . RESOLUTION NO. 01-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, ENDORSING AND SUPPORTING THE GULF BOULEVARD MASTER PLAN CONCEPT FOR THE ELEVEN BEACH COMMUNITIES AND PINELLAS COUNTY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, there exists a critical need to upgrade the landscape appearance and utility lines placement on the twenty plus mile stretch of Gulf Boulevard from St. Pete Beach to Clearwater Beach; and WHEREAS, representatives from these eleven beach communities and Pinellas County (henceforth known as the "Partner") have met jointly for the last eighteen months to study design concepts and cost estimates for the needed upgrades; and WHEREAS, the Partners requested and received $50,000 from the Board of Pinellas County Commissioners to employ a landscape architect to design conceptual improvements for Gulf Boulevard upgrades and analyze cost estimates; and WHEREAS, the Master Plan concept has been completed and approved by the Representatives on the Partners; and WHEREAS, on June 11, 2001, there was an assembled meeting inviting all elected officials of the Partners along with interested business and civic leaders to hear the Master Concept; and WHEREAS, this improvement project will increase resident and visitor enjoyment of Gulf Boulevard and will increase pedestrian and vehicle safety and will also provide positive benefits for the businesses that are located along the Gulf Boulevard corridor; and WHEREAS, Representatives of the Partners will continue to work between June 11, 2001 and September 30, 2001 to finalize recommended options for financing these capital improvements and reporting back to each Partner/Municipality/County for final action and approval by November 15, 2001; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida hereby approves the Master Plan concept for improvements to Gulf Boulevard and will work jointly to develop the final cost estimates and funding options to be presented to all partners for their consideration at a meeting to be scheduled no later than October 1, Resolution No. 01-27 '. . . 2001. This Resolution shall not be construed to constitute funding for the execution of the improvements depicted in the Master Plan. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
