82-28 f:) o RESOLUTION No. 82,.. 2~ A l{ESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING HB 645 WHICH WOULD REMOVE THE REQUIREMENT THAT A VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION ORDINANCE MUST BE ADVERTISED FOR FOUR CONSECUTIVE WEEKS PRIOR TO ITS ADOPTION. WHEREAS, HB 645 is presently pending before the Legislature; and WHEREAS, passage of the bill would improve the annexation law in that it would remove an unnecessary ordinance advertising requirement where the annexation is voluntary; and WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater since October, 1978, has spent the sum of $31,326.93 for advertising costs in the case of voluntary annexation cases: and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to indicate its support for HB 645: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida. hereby wishes to indicate its support for the passage of HB 645 removing the ordinance advertising requirement of four (4) consecutive weeks from the voluntary annexation process. 2. That a copy of this Resolution be provided to the Chairman of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation and to the Florida League of Cities. 3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of March, A.
