A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMJSSIONERS TO CANCEL AND DISCHARGE CER TArN
MUNICIPAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES
FROM ALL LIENS FOR TAXES AND TO GRANT TAX
EXEMPTION,
WHEREAS, tile City of Clearwater, Flo1'idn, a municipal corporation,
has acquired certain hereinafter described real property [or road right-o!-
way and other public use purposes; and
WHEREAS, said City of Clearwater desires that the Board o! County
Commissioners of PineIlas County discharge any and all liens for taxes from
the date of acquisition by said City held or owrJed by the County; or the State
of Florida upon said lands heretofore acquired by said City of Clearwater and
to further provide that said lands shall be exempt from County taxation so long
as the same are owned and used for such public purpose; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes 196. Z8, Cancellation of delinquent taxes
upon lands used for road purposes, etc.. grants to the Board of County
Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida, full power and authority to
accomplish this request; and
WHEREAS, in order to comply with the policy of said Board, the City
of Clearwater 19 willing to guarantee payment of taxes prior to the date of
transfer on the hereinafter described property when the tax rolls reflect
the proper amount and the City is billed for that amount;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby formally requests the Board of
County Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida, to take all formal action
necessary to cancel and discharge any and alllicns lor taxes, from the
date of acquisition by said City, held 01' owned by Pinellas County or the State
of Florida, upon the lands acquired by the City of Clearwater for public purposes
which lands are more particularly set out in the Deeds attached hereto as
Exhibit A and made a part hereof, and to provide that said lands shall be exempt
from County taxation so long as the Bame are used for such public purpose.
Z. That the City of Clearwater gurantcel:l payment of taxes prior to
the date of transfer on the hereinabove described pl'opertics when the tax
rolls reflect the proper amount and the City is billed for that amount.
3. That a certified copy of this Resolution be delivered forthwith to
the County Administrator for Pinellas County, Florida.
