A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT
OF THE CITIZENS OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,— FOR THE
NATIONAL FORGET-ME-NOT ASSOCIATION FOR POW-MIAs
IN ITS CONCERN FOR THOSE AMERICANS STILL PRISONERS
OF WAR AND MISSING IN ACTION IN SOUTHEAST ASIA AS A
RESULT OF THE VIETNAM CONFLICT, AND URGING
CONGRESS AND THE NATIONAL ADMINISTRATION TO ACT
TO END THE HEARTACHE SUFFERED BY THESE MEN AND
THEIR FAMILIES.
" WHEREAS, approximately Z, 500 American servicemen are
j;f 5:';• unaccounted for as a result of the Vietnam conflict; and
ry ;f. WHEREAS, men, known to have been captured, have not been
returned or accounted for; and
kti=t, WHEREAS, reports of Americans held in captivity in Vietnam and

Laos are increasing in number and validity; and
II1it WHEREAS, new initiatives must be made to obtain information about
." these servicemen listed as POW, MIA, KIA-BNR and PFOD;

NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
' FOLLOWS:

1. That the City Commission hereby urges the administration in
Washington, D. C. and the Congress of the United States to take action, publicly
E and forcefully, on the issue of our POWs and MIAs so that these men are

not forgotten.
M 2. That the Congress of the United States is hereby petitioned to
N~ initiate action to gain the identity and seek the release of these prisoners by the
E use of both private and public agencies, be it through national or international
auspices.
3. That copies of this Resolution shall be sent to the President of the
United States, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, the Chairman
of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, and to each Senator
and Representative in the United States Congress from the State of Florida.
