A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE
RATE INCREASE PROPOSED BY GENERAL TELEPHONE
COMPANY OF FLORIDA AS IT APPLIES TO MUNICIPALITIES
SERVED BY GENERAL TELEPHONE,
WHEREAS, General Telephone Company of Florida has filed for a
rate increase, such filing being set forth in Docket No. 810095-TP; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, after studying the proposed
increase as it applies to it, has ascertained that its telephone bill would
increase over 14676; and
WHEREAS, if such rate increase is approved it would have the
following financial impact:

of Clearwater, then, further examination should demonstrate that such impact
with respect to other municipalities equals or exceeds the impact on
Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, such an increase when the average local service increase
is 260/6 is discriminatory and excessive; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to indicate its strong
opposition to such an excessive increase;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWSs
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
wishes to go on record as strongly apposing a rate increase being granted
to General Teephone Company of Florida such as would result in the
telephone bill being paid by the City of Clearwater being increased 1467a
while the average local service increase is only 2601o.
Z. That the City Commission hereby requests the Public Service
Commission to carefully investigate such an excessive rate increase not
only for the impact it will have on the City of Clearwater but all municipalities
presently served by General Telephone.
3. That copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Chairman
of the Public Service Commission and to each municipality in Pinellas
County.
4. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
