Everett Hougen Donald S. Williama Donald Carlson Richard D."Waohtler Joseph Cnrwise Also present were: Merrett R. Sticrheim Herbert,M. Brown The Mayor called the meeting to order. Attorney. The Mayor announced the first item was consideration ot the McMullen property. The City Manager stated that on recommendation ot the City Attorney the Resolution ' would be considered at the meeting on Monday, which was agreed to by the Commission. City Attorney The invocatlon waD given by the City The Mayor announced the next item was to consider exercise ot option to purohase 320 acres for sanitary land till. The City Attorney explained the option was for . 180 days which expires on Tuesday; and it was necessary to give them notice that the City would exercise the option. The terms of the contract are that the property will, bo purchased at $2,500 per acre, with 20% of the purchase price at the time of closing with credit being given tor the $6,000 deposit paid tor the option and the balance to be paid in 10 equal installments over a 10 year period with interest at 7!% per annum. He stated it is necessary to give written notice that the City 1s exerciSing this option, and BSked for authorization to do it today if it is the intention to purchase this property. Commissioner Carw1se moved that the City of Clearwater exercise this option under date ot December 10, 1970 between W. C. Overcash and wife, and the City of Clearwater for the purchase of therein described property amounting to approximately 320 Beres and the City Manager proceed with the procuring of a surveyor the property so that the proper determination of the acreage can be made therefrom and the proper offioials be authorized to execute the documents. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Williams and carried unanimously. The City Manager reported that the City of St. Petersburg had approved, by a 7-0 vote, the contract for the City of Clearwater to use st. PeterSburg'S sanitary land fill. The Mayor reported that Judge Fox had resigned earlier this year but had agreed to stay on until a replacement had been found. He said that Elwood Hogan, Jr. had agreed to take the position for a 2 year term. CommiSSioner Williams moved that Elwood Hogan be appointed Municipal Judge tor a 2 year term. Motion was seconded by Conun1ssioner Wachtler and ca:rried unanimously. ,,' The Mayor recommended Richard stewart as Associate Judge to replace Elwood Hogan for 2 years. Commissioner Williams moved that Richard Stewart be appointed Associate Judge as of June 7th, for a 2 year term. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Carwise and carried unanimOUSly. The City Manager recommended approval of agreement with St. Petersburg for sanitary land till use. Commissioner Carwise moved that the agreement be authorized and the appropriate officials be authorized to execute it. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Wachtler and carried unanimously. The Mayor reported that the term of Cliff Stephens of the Civil Service Board expires this month, and recommended reappointment for another 3 year term. Commissioner Carwise requested that the appointment be deferred which was done by consent. The Mayor reported that the Mayor'S Conference in Philadelphia ends on June 16th and arrangements have been made for the City Attorney, City Manager and Mayor to go trom Philadelphia to New York to sign the bonds on the 17th and 18th, and asked for authorization. Commissioner Williams moved that the expenses be authorized. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Carlson and carried unanimously. The Mayor reported that the Housing Authority has a deficit of $249 per month which they are asking the City to pay. He suggested that 3 month's payment be approved with the understanding the authority would not spend it, if their financing was received by that time. Commissioner Williams moved that the City pay $249 for one month. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Wachtler and carried unanimously. Commissioner Williams reported that he would be away from the 8th to the 30th of June, and asked to be excused. Commissioner Waohtler moved that Commissioner Williams be excused.
