At the time, it was felt Chat perhaps a bit more study snould be given ~he matter, and the operation was stopped. Since that time, it has become apparent chac it needs to be completed. It is my firm belief t.hat by rounding out the lake and dee~ening it, the entire property VillI be benefited, (l) by better dra inage, and (2) by beautiricat:lo n of the area. As you undou~'tedly know, I have almost complet.ed the new hangar on the property, and the airport has been enjoying an increasing business over the past years. It would be my int8ntion in having the fill removed from che lake to use a good bit of it around the sideB of the lake, bringi~g it. up to grade, and &so in filling in low places on the a1rport~ It would be my plan, subject to the approval of the city, that this dirt be removed and some of it sp~ead on and about the air- port where~er needed in the judgment or the Chamber o~ Commerce Aviation Committee, and chat. t.he contractor who does t.he 'Work \'Iill be allowed to take th e balance of the un-needed fill from the lake for his o\rJn pe1valle me, out of consideration for doing this ~ork, the said contract.or to be under bond and cont.ract with me. all oE which ~ould be at BO expense to the City or Clearl'lat er. I am deeply interested in ge~ting this matter cleared up in the very near future so that we can better take care o~ our increased business and apecial air events that are in ~he offing, beginning on November 11th. At the time, i was ft that perhaps a bit more study should be given the matter, and the operation was stopped, Since that time, it has become agpare:t that it needs to be comp].eted. It is my firm belief that b y rounding out the lake and dee ening it, the entire property ill be beneiited, (1.) by btter drainage, and (2 by beautificataon of th are. As you undouedly know, I have almos completed the new hangar on the property, and the i.rp t has been enjoying an increasing busineas over the past years. It would be my intantion in having the fill removed from the lake o use a good bit o£ it around the sides f the lak, bringin it up to grade, and also in filling in low places on th airpo:: It would be my plan, subject to the approval of the city, that this dirt be removed and some of it spead on and about t he air- port whereer needed in t he judgmant af t he Chamber of Gommerce lviation Committee, and tihat the contractor who does the work will be allowd to take the balance of the un-needed fill from the lake for his own gvae use, out oi consideration for doing this work, the said contractor to be under bond 3nd contract with me, all of vhich would be at so expense to the City of Clearwatez. I am deeply interes%ed in getti,ng this matter cleared up in the very near future so that we can better ake cara oi our increased business and special air evens that are in the offing, beginning on November llth.
