June $th, at 2:30 P.M. by the County Commission concerning the application to erect
a wooden pier on Lot 6, Block A, Venetian Point, filed by Dr. W. Mulhollan. The
City Attorney stated that he had been informed that the intended length of the
dock would be 50 feet extending westerly into Clearwater Bay. The City Engineer
said that he would check to see if it would interfere with the outfall sewer line
extending from Stevenson Creek. Commissioner Strang moved that there be no
objection to the dock at Dr, Warren Mulhollan's property except if the Engineer
should find that it is interfering with our outfall sewer line. Motion was
seconded by Commissioner Bates and carried unanimously,
The City Attorney reported that he had received some inquiries about the fact
that Smith and Coon, holders of the swimming pool lease on City land north of the
Municipal Pier, were using the property south of the Pier to rent cabanas,
umbrellas, etc. The City Attorney asked the Commission for instruction as to
action on the matter. Commissioner Bates suggested that Smith and Coon be permitted
to use this property temporarily for the purpose of renting beach umbrellas,
cabanas, etc,, but that the arrangement can be terminated at the pleasure of the
Commission. The City Attorney said he would send Smith and Coon a letter
authorizing them temporarily to use the premises as long as they make the regular
percentage return to the City, and that since no rent is being paid, that the
arrangement is terminable at the pleasure of the City. By consent, the Commission
agreed to this procedure.
The City Attorney stated that the Police Department had suggested that he
draw two proposed Ordinances: one was concerning changing clothes in public
restrooms and the other would be to authorize collection by the City of its share
of the State Insurance Tax for the Police Pension Fund. By consent, the City
Attorney was instructed to draw these Ordinances,
The City Manager asked for suggestions as to what type of sign should be put
in front of the Marina to show that there were boats for hire located there.
The suggested size was 30 feet by 15 feet. The Mayor suggested the wording
"Clearwater Marina -Home of the Clearwater Fishing Fleet", By consent, the City
Manager was instructed to advertise for bide on the sign,
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 2;48 P.M.
