12/16/1953 CITY COMMISSION MEETING December 16, 1953 The City Commission of the City of Clearwater mat in special session at City Hall, Wednesday, December 16, 1953, at 12:15 P.M. lath the following members present: Herbert M. Brown W. E. Crown, Jr. Jack Russell John W. Bates Absent: W. E. Strang, Jr. Also present were: Mayor.Commiss1oner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner ~_i F. C. Middleton Chas. M. McClamma City Manager City Attorney Chief of Police TPe meeting was called to order by the Mayor who announced the purpose or the meeting was to canvass the results of the Municipal Election held Tuesday, December 15, 1953, and to examine and tabulate the absentee ballots received. The City Attorney read a report from the City Clerk that the voting machines had been examined by him and found to be properly prepared for the election. The absentee ballots (8) were opened and tabulated as follows: For: Robert W. Baker Col. Harry E. Erickson Guy L. Kennedy Jack Russell Robert W. Wilson 2 4 3 4 3 The official reports from the Election Board at the Municipal Auditorium and from the Clearwater Beach Fire Station were read. Commissioner Crown moved that the election returns as read by the City Attorney be approved and the results declared to be official and tpat Mr. Guy L. Kennedy and Mr. Jack Russell be recognized as members of the City Commission for a term of two years. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Bates and carried unanimously. The official returns from the Board of Elections and the City Clerk's report are set out in the following pages of these minutes and by reference made a part pereof.
