CITY COMMISSION MEETING April 4, 1952 The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met in special session at City Hall, Friday, April 4, 1952, at 12:15 P.M. with the ~ollowing members present: Herbert M. McClamma City Attorney Chief of Police The Mayor called the meeting to order and announced the purpose of the meeting was to consider a Resolution which would enable the City Attorney to cooperate with the County Attorney in a condemnation suit for the acquiring of certain parcels of land needed for the right-of-way for Missouri Avenue. The City Attorney reported that the necessary right-of-way had been secured except for ten parcels o~ land for which the City had been unable to secure a deed, and the only alternative appeared to be a condemnation suit. The City Attorney submitted a Resolution which would request the County to institute condemnation suits and proceedings to obtain the right-of-way for the widening of Missouri Avenue. It was moved by Commissioner Lynn that the Resolution be adopted, seconded by Commissioner Blanton and carried unanimously. I' I I i~ f i ' ~ . .' -------------------------------------------------------------------------~---------~ !:, J~ WHEREAS the City COffimission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, has long deemed it desirable to widen Missouri Avenue within the City limits of the City of Clearwater, and to coopera~e with the County of Pine lIas in its plan to widen Missouri Avenue outside of the City limits of the City of Clearwater so as to provide an additional traffic artery, and WHEREAS the City of Clearwater has obtained the necessary right-of-way over most of the route of Missouri Avenue within the City limits of the City of Clearwater, but the City of Clearwater has been unable to secure right-o~-way over some tracts of land, and WHEREAS it is deemed desirable by the City Commission of the City of Clearwater that the right-of-way, which the City of Clearwater has been unable to secure, should be included in a condemnation suit to be brought by the County of Pinellas to obtain right-of-way over lands outside of the City limits of the City of Clearwater, all for the furtherance of the project of widening Missouri Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, in session duly and regularly assembled as follows: 1. That the City of Clearwater does hereby certify to the County of Pine lIas , and do~s hereby request the County of Pine lIas to institute condemnation suits and proceedings to obtain the right-of-way for the widening of Missouri Avenue over the lands set out in a schedule to be prepared and delivered to the County of Pinel1as by the City Attorney of the City of Clearwater. 2. That the City of Clearwater hereby agrees to pay its proportionate share of the cost of the condemnation proceedin~s, including its proportionate share of a bond i'or "quick-taking" in the event that said "quick-taking" procedure is deemed advisable or expedient.
