Brown Garland D. Iqnn Joe Turner Thomas H. Black, Jr. Herbert M. MoClamrna -City Manager -City Attorney -Chief' of Police The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. The City Manager presented sketches showing Druid Road and Oak Aores Subdiv1sion. He stated that he has on deposit check for $850.00 pending approval of water main ex- tensions in this area. Commissioner Black moved that recommendation of' the City Mana- ger be followed and that he be authorized to install approximately 650' of 2" pipe at an estimated cost of $430.00 on Druid Road and Woodside Avenue and to install appro- x.imately 1300' of 2" pipe on Woodside, Woodcrest Avenues and Keene Road, at an esti- mated cost of' ~~B50.00, to be borne by the developers, the developers to be refunded on the usual contract basis. Commissioner Turner seconded the motion, which was voted upon and unanimously carried. " i ! City Manager submitted sketch for water main extensions on Young Street. Com- missioner Black moved that City ~mnager's recommendations be followed and that City Manager be authorized to install a pproxima te1y 800' of 2" wa ter me in extensions on Young Street at an estimated cost o~ $570.00, cost to be borne by the developers and developers to be refunded on the usual basis of the City's contract. Commissione~ Turner seconded the motion, which was voted upon and unan~lously carried. Mayor Brown brought up the matter of taking Hall Subdivision into the City. Oity Manager stated that he would like to prepare an overall report of what is outside the City l~its and what they pay in the way of gas and water revenues. It ~s agreed that this be done and that when tllis report was prepared it was to be brought berore the Commission. The matter o~ utility charges for City owned utilities outside the City was discussed and on questioning Manager Middleton it was revealed that the users out- side the City were paying 25% higher rate than the users in the City. However~ the users in the City pay an additional 10% utility tax. It was thought that the outside City users should be raised to where they were paying 35~ more than the base rate in the City in order to somewhat equalize this situation. City Manager presented sketch for water main extensions on Fulton Avenueo Com- missioner Black moved that City Manager's recommendation be followed and that he be authorized to install 135' of 2't line on liulton Avenue at an estimated cost of $110.00. Commissioner Blanton seconded the motion~ which was voted upon and unan~ously carried. City Manager presented sketch ahowing extension on Lake Drive. Cmnmissioner Blanton moved that City Manager's recommendation be followed and that he be authorized to install 290' of' 2" line on Lake Drive at an estinated cost of $.345.00. Commissioner Black seconded the motion, which was voted upon and una~ous1y carried. City Manager presented sketch for extension on Drew Street. Cammlssioner Blaok moved that City l~nager's recommendation be followed and that he be authorized to in- stall 150' of line on Drew Street (2:" line) and lift line ex.tending South on the ease- ment at an estimated cost of $95.00. Commissioner Black moved that 42' of 2'" water main extension on Plumosa Avenue, at an estimated cost of ~30.00, be approved. Commissioner Blanton seconded the motion, which was voted upon and unan~ously carried. Commissioner Black moved that City 1~nager and City Engineer immediately be in- structed to prepare an estimate on insta1.ling sidewalk on Seminole Street from Jefferson to Pennsylvania Avenue; and on the East side of Greenwood Avenue rram Seminole street to Draw Street, .in order to take care of the despen te need for protecting scho01 children going to school, BO that work oan be authorized and sidewalk installed imme- diately. Cmnmissioner Blanton seconded the ~otion, which was voted upon and una~ously carried. "~I City Manager stated that no tabulation sheets were available for bids on police un1forms, but he reviewed all bids subnlitted~ and recommended that bid of' Bob Johnson Company at Jacksonville, Florida,,, be accepted.
