Gentlemen: It has just come to lilY attention that a request is being made to extend the hours for selling a1coholio beveragos from 12:00 midnight to 3:00 A.M. It 1s my understanding that Clearwater has always appealed to the rinest type of permanent people, winter residents and tourists and I do not believe that en- couraging drinking in the early morning hours wl11 be pleasing to the majority of our people, and I certainly do not believe it would be 1n the interest of the moral welfare of the people o~ this city. I sincerely trust that you will vote against the proposed change in the ordinance governing the hours of sale of alcoholic beverages. With sincere appreciation of your service to the city. October 13, 1950 Dear Mayor: The North Ward P.T.A. and School are plann1ng a Halloween Carn.1.va1 which wilJi be held in the ~Iunicipal Alldi torium Ootober 3~8t. This carn! val 1s be1.ng held on this night to give wholesome entertainment and activities to the children and youth of the community. Due to the varied features of the carnival, the supper. carnival activities, a minstrel and a street dance following the minstre1, and the crowd that customarily attends this carnival, it is desirable to have the street in front of the Municipal Auditorium (Pearce streot) closed from traff1c. In talking to Police Ch1ef McClamma he advised that this request be made to th~ Cit~ C~ission. The school and P.T.A. would appreciate the City's cooperation in granting us the' use of this street during the evening of October 31st. Attached herewith is a copy of Mr. Russell and Mr. Lowe's request with signatures of adjoining property owners who oonsent to this change. ----- Mr. Oliver Anderson, Secretary C1earwater Zoning Board, Clearwater, Florida. Olearwater, Florida August 28th, 1950 Dear Mr. Anderson:- The undersigned are the owners of Lots 9 and 42 of Glenwood Estates. Lot 9 i~ looated at the southeast corner or Maple street and Highland Avenue, and Lot 42 1a looated at the southwest corner of' Maple street and Glenwood Avenue. Each lot has a frontage of 70 feet on Highland and Glenwood~ and a frontage of 115 feet on Maple. The Zoning Act requires a set back of 30 feet on houses ereoted in this location and fronting on 1mple Street. Since the lots are only 70 feet in depth, measured baok from Maple Street, a set baok of 30 feet would make these lots too amall to build on. It would be logical to build on these lots fronting ~ple Street instead of Glenwood or Highland, because the houses already built across Maple Street are erected so that they front on 1mple Street, and houses erected on other parts of Map1e street also front on that street. Endorsed hereon 1s the oonsent of adjacent property owners to a change of the bu11d1.ng 11ne on Maple Street. For the reasons above set forth, we respectfully request ~e Zoning Board to approve a change of the building line on the south side of Maple Street between Highland and Glenwood from the present requirement of 30 feet to 20 feet. Respectfully submitted, Signed: Jaok Russell It S. R. Lowe We hereby consent to the proposed change of the building line on Maple Street from 30 ~eet to 20 feeto Signed: Edgar E. Martin~ Robert D. " . ,1 .. ~ t . ~,'. ' Gentlemen: I represent Mr. Alfred P. Vasconi, who owns oertain property in the City ot Clearwater desoribed as: Lots 10 and 11, PADGETT t S ESTATE SUBDIVISION, according to the map or plat thereof as re- corded in the public reoords of Pinellas County, }i'lorida. This property is bounded on the south by Grove Street, on the East by Kenwood, and on the West by Y",ncoln Avenue, and lies in an area zoned for multiple dwellings or R-2. Mr. Vasconi anticipates building some modern duplexes on this property. How- ever, at the time he applied for the permit it was called to his attention by the Building Inspector that the building line was set back twenty (20) feet on each of the streets. Mr. Vasooni is an architect and had drawn his plans in such a way that he had dropped back twenty (20) feet from the front line, or the Grove Street line, but had only anticipated dropping back to a tsn (10) foot line on eaoh of the other streets, to-wit: Lincoln and Kenwood. I personally have inspected the property and do not think that this would in any way act as a detriment to this area, but would in fact oonfor.m with the present lines ss set forth by other buildings in the same block. This is a small block and the two lots owned by Mr. Vasconi constitute the entire southern end of the block. The duplexes would face south, and if permitted to drop baok to a ten (10) foot building line on the East and West, he would be able to have off-the-street parking areas. If the 20-foot line is striotly adhered to insofar as the side Bt~eets are concerned it would not be possible to have the plan include garages or carports. As the house directly north of this property, which faces Lincoln Avenue, is less than twenty (20) feet from the building line, loan see no prejudice to this adjoin- ing property. I am therefore asking this Board to waive the 20-foot set back on Lincoln and Kenwood Streets, and permit Mr. Vasconi to build his duplexes in acco~- ance with these building lines. , ,: ~ J,: i, ,',~,:;:'(\:;sS;':", 1 ,'" 'J",'" x~I::::;:;,1 ,i;ii~~~;'~ r ~:'~~r~ ~-:.~;~. f r.\~~\~~ WP: f'g NOT ICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, sitting as a board of adjustment and appeal and acting under the authority of the City Zoning Ordinance, wi~l hold a public hearing at the City Hall in said City on Monday, October 16, 1950 at 7:30 o'clock P.l1 ., to consider and act upon the petition of' Alfred P. Vasconis request also a plt lsn showing how building is to be placad on said properye September 26, 1950 Zoning Board, City of Clearwater, Clearwatar, Florida. Gentlamenr I represent hir. Alfred P. Vasconi, who ovns certain property in the City of Clearvrater descsibed as: T,ots 10 and 11, PADGTT'S ESTATE SUBDIVISIONa accos*ding to the maP or plat thereof sa re- corded in the publio records of P3ne11as County: Floridao This property is bounded on the south ky Grave Street, on the Fast by Kenwood, and on the Yest by Lincoln Avenae, and lies in an aroa zoned for multigle dwellings or R2e Mr. Vasconi anticipates building some modern duplexes on this property. How- ever, at the tiane ha applied for the pennit it was called to his attntion bg the Building Inspector tha the building line vas set back twenty (20} feet ou ech of the strests. NIr. VascoFli is an architect and had clrwn his plans in such a way thst he had dropped back twent,y (20) feet from the front line, or the Grove Straeti line, but had or.ly anticipated dropping back to a ten (10) oot line on each of tlzo other sreets, to-wi: Lincoln and Kenwood, I personally have inspected the property and do not think that th3s would in ariy way act as a detriment to this area, but would in fact cnnform with the present 13nes as set forth bv othex buildings in the same blok, This is anall block and the two lots owned by hir. Vasconi constitute the entire southern end of the 'blocko 'i'he duplexes would faca sauth, and if permited to drop bac to a ten (10) foot building lina on the East and West, he would be able to have off-he-street parking areas. I the 20-foot line is strictl cihered to insofar as the side strees are concerned it would not be poss3ble to have the plan iriclude garages or carports. As the house directlq north oP this property, which faces Lincoln Avenue, is less than twenty (2Q) feat from he building line, I can see no prejudice to thie adjoin- ing property. I am tharefore asking this Board to waive tlze 20-foot set back an Lincoln and envood Streets, ar_d perit Nir. Vasconi to build his duplexes in accord- ance viith these building line9.
