McClamma -Chief' of Police Ben Krentzmen -City Attorney The meeting having been called to order by theIdayor,the minutes of the regular meeting oP January 2nd sere approved. Attorney Burton (3. Hinson oP Tampa appeared before the Commission, on behalf of Mr. & Mra. Ise Xoungblood to protest atgainst the terms of a neK lease on that part of lot 9, City Park Sub., East of Marianne Street. He contended that the rental of 125.00 per month, required by the new lease, was too high and should be moderated on account of the improvements made by Mr. & btra. Youngblood during their tenancy. Mra. Youngblood stated that it would be necessary for a ner floor to be installed in the immediate Future and that the coat Hould approximate X5,000.00. Commissioner Casler moved that the matter be deferred until the City Manager can have an in- speation of the building made, and the building put in the proper state of repair. The motion Nos seconded by Commissioner Turner and carried unanimously. The City Attorney submitted a resolution which arould change the name of that part o! Cedar Street running from Myrtle Avenue East to the City limits to Pa Lnetto Street. On a motion by Commissioner Turner which was seoonded by Commissioner Bror?n, and unanimously carried, the Resolution pea adopted. Mr. Thomas H. Black of tho Thomas H. Black Realty Co. addressed the Commission relative do the proposal to grade, ditch and surface pith shell, that part of Hill- creat Drive between Druid Road and Chestnut Str®et. He stated that the work could be done for X1600.00 and suggested that the City contribute ?i1200.00 as it's portion. Commissioner Broxn moved that the money b® spent in the manner prescribed. The motion pas seconded by Commmissioner Casler and carried. Mr. 1N. W. Blackburn appeared before the Commission in connection with his re- quest that a storm sewer be installed to take care o? the drainage problem in the vicinity of Cleveland Street at Prospect Avenue. btr. Blackburn said he could find a purchaser for the Improvement Liens but the liens vaould?have to be backed by the City?a credit 1n the event of non-payment by the abutting property owners. VPhen questioned, Mr. Blackburn stated that the City wrould, if the liens sere declared illegal, allow the City to have the same privl,leges for payments as are provided far owners of the abutting property, i.e., pAyments spread over a 10-Year period. Com• missioner Turner moved that the City Couunission hold a Public Hearing on the issuing of improvement certificates for this project. Comunissioner Casler seoonded the motion and it carried unanimously. ' The City Clerk read a report from the Planning Board relative to the Board?a discussion on the proposed development oP a Yacht Basin on the City opned waterfront South of Causepay Boulevard on Clearwater Beach, also a letter from Mr. W. S. Shannon, Chairman of the Planning Board. Mr. Shannon and Mr. John C. Polhill both addressed the Commission, discussing possible means of financing the development and the. possibility of including this item in an overall pro?eat, which would include a pier and other badly needed items. Commissioner Casler moved that ,the City Manager be instructed to make such investigation and do such exploring along this line as is possible and report beak to the Con?nisaion. The motion Has seoonded by Commissioner Turner and carried. Acting Mayor Drex said that the Committee on increases in garbage collection fees had no report at this time. The City Attorney reported that he had not prepared an Ordinance on the parking of trailers, and the matter Hoe deferred by unanimous aonaent. Item ?fi on the Agenda---The report of the City Attorney, Chief of Police, and City Manager on the request of the Exchange Club to erect shelter for bus customers pea deferred. The City Attorney submitted an Ordinance which would control the growing oY shnibbery at Street intersections and on, Parkways, ?ahere ahrubbary pould create a traffic heuzard.
