City of Clearwater,
Clearwater, Florida
Attention: Boyd A. Bennett
Oi ty Manager
Gentlemen:
I am representing Mr. Mac Newman, who is negotiating with
Mr. Pierson R. Shinn for the purohase of his interest in the
Imperial Dock looated on Clearwater Beaoh. Mr. Shinn has the
property known as Imperial Dook leased from the City for a ter.m
whioh will expire' January 1, 1950.
The lease oalls for the pa~ent of $25.00 per month. Mr.
Shinn now finds it impossible to oontinue operating this business
due to his health. My client and Mr. Shinn have entered into a
oontraot, subjeot to the negotiation of a new lease on the Imperial
Dock, whereby Mr. Newman will purohase Mr. Shinn's interest.
Mr. Newman plans to spend approxnnately $5,000.00 in the
improvement of the present faoilities located on this property,
and is willing to pay $50.00 per month as rental for this property.
This amounts to the rent being doubled from the present rate.
Mr. Newman is interested in obtaining a lease for a period of ten
years from date. He is willing to have a recapture olause in any
proposed lease whereby the City oould repossess the property for
public purposes upon payment to him of a speCified amount far
each year of the unexpired term of the lease.
I would like to have this matter placed on the agenda for
the meeting of July 12, 1949 to discuss it with you at that time.
Very truly yours,

Attention: Honorable Mayor Harry D. Sargeant
Gentl amen:
Following our reoent telephone oonversation, the wri~er submits
this letter as a Imans ot familiarizing you wi th the services ot'
our agenoy.
Although our organization has the oomplete recognition of all
media and has been established ~n St. Petersburg for a period
01' four years, we want to make it clear that we are not handlirg
any oh~ber of commerce accounts at this time. Should we suoceed
in seouring your acoount, it is our intention to guarantee not ~o
solioit any other ohambe~ of oommerce aooounts. Thus, we oould
then assure you that our full effort WDuld be concentrated u~on
your particular advertising problems and their ~Olutions. We hold
to the old axiom "No man can sene two lOBsters.
Now, a word about our facilities as an advertising agenoy. Ours
is the finest art department in the entire South. Our art staft
is headed by Mr. Fred Myers who ranks as one of the ten top oommercial
artists in the country. Our production manager has had 15 years in
exeoutive capaoi ty \'lith one of the ]a rgest agenc iea in the North. His
knowledge of layout and technical details is unsurpassed.
The balance of our staff is composed of trained, experienoed co~y
writers who handle feature writing, advertising copy, radio scripts,
news and publicity stories.
We have planned and executed advertising campaigns for scores ot national-
and local manufactures, builders, builders' supply and service firms,
political oandidates, department stores, various specialty shops and
appliance distri bu tors.
In addition we have had wide experience in publicity ani promotional pro-
jeots. "A small, but re~resentative list of these would be the Pan-Ameri-
can Fiesta, January 1948, sponsored by the St. Petersburg Oivitan Olub;
the Bug Buying contest whioh launched a new insectioidal paint in st.
Petersburg at the Rieck & Fleece Builders' Supply Campany and our latest
projeot of this nature was handling the pUblicity for the builders' and
manufacturers Practical Home under the sponsorShip of local building
supply firms and the ~rican Builder magazine.
The tota~ free newspaper lineage given these three alone exoeeded more
than one million lines.
The faot that we are a completely self-sufficient agenoy, with national
tie-ups allover the country would work to great advantage for your
purpose. The money thus spent would remain in Pinellaa Corm ty and
all records, art work and production would be immediately at hand for
your ins:r;:e ction. Time is money and our rapid servioe would eliminate
any delays encountered in using a distant agem y.
Should you indicate to us that the foregoing is of interest to you,
we can be ~repared with a full and oomprehensive advertising presen-
tation within twenty-one days.
May we hear from you soon?

knowl edge oi layout and teahnieal details is unsurpasaed.
The balance of our-staff is compose of trained, experienced copy
writers who handle feature rvriting, ade:rtising copy, radio scripts,
news and publicity stories.
i"Je have planned and executed advertising campains for scores of national-
and local manufactures, builders, buildexs' supply and service firms,
golitical candidates, department stores, various specialty shops and
apvl.iance distributors.
In adition tive have had tivide experience in publicity au3 promotional pro-
jects.. `A small, but representative list oP these would be the Pan-Ameri-
can Fiesta, January 134£i, sponsnred by the St. Petersburg Civitan lub;
the Sug Buying contesl; which launched a new insecticidal paint in St.
Petersburg at the Rieck & Fleece Builders' Supply Company and our latest
project of tis nature was handling the publicity for the builders° en d
manufacturrs Practical Hom under the sponsorship of locaT blilding
supply firms and the American Builder magazine.
The toal free newspaper lineage given the5e tree alone er>cesded more
than one million lines.
The fact that tive are a completely self-sufficient agenc y, with national
tie-ups all over the country would work to great advantage for your
purpose. The money thus spent would remai.n in Pinellas Count and
all records, art work and production would be immediaely at hand fos
your i.nspection. Time is money and our rapid service would eliminate
any delays eneounterd in nsing a distant agerxc y.
Should .you indicate to us that the foregoing is oP interest to yu,
we can be pxepared wih a full and comprehensive advertising presen-
tation within twenty-one days.
