The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met in specia 1 session tIle after-
ftC-VII ~f March 10, 1949 at 12 :00 noon in the City Hall with the following members
present:

The Mayor-Commissj oner called the meeting to or der and explained that the pur-
pose of the meeting wus to consider the request of Lee H. Heid that the City quit
claim to him a triangula r plot of land lying a t the NE cor ne r of Lot 30, Bluff View
Subdi vision and the consideration 01' the city ussisting in the estab1ishment of a
library for colored people. Mr. Gargeant said that the people proposing the library
wanted assurance that property ov.ned by the City, Lot 12, Block G, FairruoIlt sub-
division would be kept available for use as a library site for colored people. Com-
missioner Drew moved that the City Clerk be instructed not to sell Lot 12, Blk G,
Fair mont Subdi vis ion wi th out the ap pro val of the City Commission.. Commiss ioner Caslor
seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
In co nnectio n v.i th Mr. ~{ei d's reque st for a quitclaim to unus ed part of Druid
Road, City Mana~er Bennett proposed that the City deed that part of the triangular
piece of land lying south of the South line of Lot M, Harbor Oaks and "Nest of a
line from a point 10' '/'est of the SE corner of Lot 30, Bluff View Subdi vi sion to
the SE corner of Lot J", Harbor Oaks to M.r. Reid, provided Mr. Reid would deed the
City that part of Lot 30, Bluff VieVi Subdivision lying East of the aforesaid line.
Commissioner Casler moved thet the City Mane~er's su~~eHtion for settlement be
aDproved. Coremissioner Kennedy seconded the motion ~nd it carried unanimously.
By consent the Commission authorized the use of Green Field as a parking lot
during games played by the Phillics at the Beseball Park in response to a request
by the Vet~ans~ ot Foreign Wars.
Mr. Sargeant stl:1ted that he had been approached v.ith an offer tu purchase
Blks. 29 & 32, Magnolia Park for $8,100.00. Mr. Casler suggested that A.C.L &
Seaborad .t.{ailroad officials be contacted on the iuea 01' el:1ch .raill'oad purchasing
half the pro perty for llli e as switching yards. Mr. Sargeant agreed to contact
railroad officials.
