Clerk 8igned b,y ~eorge w. ~ans of 121 Jor~ Osc801a Avenue prot..ting the widening 01 the
street, especially at the expense of the adJoini~ property owners. Mr. Ivane protested that
the wideni~ was no improvement to hie property which is located almost direotly &oro.s trom
the Public Libr817 and that one of his objections was that it would caus. the 1088 ot ~re.
ahade trees in front ot his propertYi further tbat the widenins, 11 a benefit at all, va. one
that bene!i ted the community generally and that it would be unjust for the adjoining 'Property
owners to have to bear the total expense.
There was no one presen t to offer any further objeotion to the widening of the street.
The Oity Man8ger reported tha.t the cost would be approzima.tel1' $6.00 per tront toot
of adjoining property.
The Oity AttorneY' read a Resolution authorizing the widening ot the .treet and it was
moved by Commissioner Orane, seconded by' Oommissioner ](enne~ and unanimou81y oarded that the
Resolution be adopted.
Commissioner Kenne~, om behalf' of the Committee to Investigate the Leasil1g o~ Or.lt
Lako to the Oonservation Olub, reported very favorably on the project, and the 0011II.118100. in-
structed the Oommi ttee to wrk out an agreement with the Oouervation Olub and prelflnt it
to them for approval.
Ci ty Manager :Bennett read a communioation from the Zoning Board stating that the
Board was in favor of granting the request of Mr. Powell McWhirter tor parmi.don to estab-
11 sb a Trailer Park on property at the Southeast corner of Woodlawn and South Fort Barrllon
Avenue. It was moved by Oommissioner Orane, seconded by Oommissioner Sargeant and unanimous-
ly carried that the recommendation 01 the Zoning :Board be approved.
A commanication was rea.d from the Zoning :Board stating that the :Board vas in favor
of granting tho request of R. J.. Hinners to esta.b1ish a trailer park on property at the South-
west corn.er of Gulf to :Bq :Boulevard and Be10her Road. It was moved by OolDlll1a.ioner Drov,
seconded by OOJllll1Bsloner Sargeant and unanimously oarried that the recommendation ot the Zon-
ing :Board be acceptsd.

A letter was read from the Zoning :Board recommending that Lots A o.nd B, of a Re-
plat of property at the Northwest corner of Jones Street and North Fort Harr1son Avenue be
zoned as businesB property, except 15 feet on the weet, which is to be dedicated a,8 an all.y,
making the .il~propertT to be zoned 117.07 feet East and West on Jones Street and 180 feet
North and South on :Fort Harrison Avenue. It wae moved by Oommissioner Drew, aeoonded b;,y
OommiaB1oner Sargeant and unanimously carried that the recommendation of tl1e Zoning Bca.rd
be approved. The Oity Manager directed City Attorney Smith to advertise that a apec1al
hearing wou.1d be held by the City Commission at its next regular meeting when the matter vould
be finall;,y disposed of.
It was moved by OODDIlissioner Orane, seconded by Oommissioner Drew and unwmously
carried that the recommendation of tho Zoning Board that the application of J. ]I. stewart to
build a porch baY'ond the regular 20 foot eet-back be denied.
J. coDlJl1'Unication was read from the Zoning :Board approving an app1icat ion o~ Mrs. George
A. YoUDg for a 15 toot set-back: on Park Street. :By' UJ18I11mouI consent the Oity OOlllD1issicD. .
accepted the Zoning :Board's report snd directed the Oity Attorney to advertise that a epeclal
hearing would be held bY' the Oommission on the matter at its next regular meeting.
Oommissioner Orane reported that the General Youth Center Committee had defin~tely
rejected a. a possible site for a Youth Oenter, City owned propert;y on Seminole Street
immediately South of ~reenwood Avenue, as not being enough centrally lo'cated. COIlIJDissloner
Orane indicated that he thought'it would be proper tor the Optimist Club, this being the ca..,
to release the Oity of 8n7 rights they might have under an agreoment by the Oi ty to g1ve a
leue on the property on Sen1nole Street provided that the ea.me was sui table.
Mr. Lee, Ohalrman of the ~eneral Youth Oenter Oommittee, was pre.ent and on behalf

Oity Attorney Snith reported that all eigna West ot D\moan Avenue. except designa-
tion signs, were 1n violation of the Zoning Law, and that the ldlolesale grocer's eign,
ooncern1ng which there was some controversy 80me few weeks B€o and which 1s located at the
corner of Laura Street and Myrtle Avenue, was in his opinion. in vioJat1on 01 the law. It
was moved by Commissioner Orane, seconded by Oommissioner Drew and unanlmausly carried that
the report of the Oity Attorney regarding the legality of eigne be re~erred to the Oity
Manager for whet he coneidered reasonable enforcement. '
A letter vas read from ~ny Tagarelli asking permission to move a ten by twenty-
four toot garage trom the oorner ot Cambria Street and Mandalay Boulevard to Tarpon $priAgs.

lar moeting of the lJoard at whioh time a special hearing would he b.cld on. the matter. The
application vas turned over to the License Committee for their study end reoommendation.

lr oarri ed. that Mr. Heu"rod and w1f e be given an extension of the lease covering Harrod's :Ba.1 t
Pier and that the new lease have the following provt sions: tlul.t the expiration date be let
at January 1, 1950. with the lessees having the right of first re:tusal if the 01ty lease the
pro,pert;y beyond this period; that the rent be $40.00 per month, and that the present obliga-

atreet� especially at the expense a� the edjoining property otaners, Mr. Evaus protested tnt.�,t
the widening was no i.mprovement to hia property which is located almost directly across fr,om
the Public Library and that one of his objectione wa,s that it would cauee ihe losa o£ three
ahade trees ia front of his property; further that the widening, if a benefit at' a11. wes o;ae
that benef3ted tha community generally and that it would be tanjust for the adjaining property
owners to Y�,ve to bear the total expenea.
There was no one present to offer aay iurther o�jection to the widening of the street.
