Ootober 6, 1947
The Oity' Oommission met in regular session the evening of October 6, ~947,
at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: J. O. Houze, J. R. Crane~T. A.
Johnson, H. D. Sargeant, Vi. C. Vle~ls. Others present were George Smith, City
Attorney, Eoyd A. Bennett, City Manager, J. J. Elliott, Chief of Police.,
The meeting was 0 elled to order by 11ayor Houze and nthe minutes of the lest
meetings were read and approved. .
Mr. Willie Stephens 01' the South Clearwater CODJIlunity Club criticized the
delay in finishing Greenwood Avenue sidewalk. He end Captain Bob Beauohamp
invited the City Commission to meet with them at a mass meeting to be he~d
in the City Hall Auditorium on Ootober 9, 1947. Mayor Houze stated that the
Commission would give the invitation oonsideration.
Mr. A~bert N. Smith of North Olearwater addressed the Commission and
expressed his satisfaction with services rendered by the City and denied that
the representatives of the Be~ont Association had the right to speak for his
seotion of the City.
Ordinanoe No. 548, regulating water service, was read and itwas moved by
COmrrUssioner Johnson, seconded by Oommissioner Crane and oarried that Ordinance
No. 54~ be passed on its third and ~in81 reading. Voting Aye were: J. O.
Houze, J. H. Crane, T. h. Johnson, W. C. Wells. Not voting: H. D. Sargeant.

A letter from the Clearwater Beach Progressive Association was read and upon
instruction or the Mayor, roode a part of' the minutes.
City ~ttorney Smith requested more tline on the Zoning Ordinance. It was
granted until the next meeting.
Mayor's commdttee on Zoning - Comrlssioner Johnson suggested a meeting
with the Oity Att..orney and the Zoning Eoard l~ttorney. Commissioner Sargeant
suggested the Ohairman of the Zoning Board, Mr. Day, be asked also.
A resolution by the Sunset l)oint Civic Assooia tion was read a nd. upon recom-
mendation of the Chairman made a portion of the minutes. Chief of Polioe
Elliott was instructed to confer with the Oounty authorities about eliminating
traffic hazardso
The Oity Manager recommended the construction of:
1. 1)50 feet of 8 inch water maln or Highland Avenue from Gulf-to-Bay Bou~evard
to Druid Road, and the installation of two fire hydrants. 4.541062
2. 300 f'eet of 2 inch water main on South Missouri Avenue

3. 450 feet of 2 inoh water main on Yelvington Avenue south from Gulr-toRBay.

It was moved by Commissioner Crene, seconded by Commissioner Johnson and
unClnimously oarried that the purchase of mater,ial tor the first item be approved
and that the second and third items b~,approved as submitted.
A letter trom James Yeatropoulas and James Megas, opera~ors of "My Place"
at 1291 South Ft. Harrison l~venue, requested that they be permi tted to erect a
marquee and avmings on their place of business. They were present and were
advised that this matter would be considered at a future meeting.

Commissioner Crane ,of' the Mayor's Committee on Liquor and Beer and Wine
lioenses recommended that licenses be granted to the following: Gonzalo GarCia,
operator of the Blue Moon Restaurant as a liquor store, Pete 'Psomadukis, o~ner
or the Pinellas Eilliard Park, and Joe Ka1sidis, of the Sea Breeze Grill for
beer and "uine, subjeot to the final approval of the Chief of l-'olic e Elliott.
City M8nBger Bennett read. a resolution recommending that certain ~ots be
cleaned or grass, weeds and tra sll and that the owners be assessed for the oosts
of such cleaning. It was moved by Commissioner Crane, seconded by Commissioner
Sargeant, and unanimously carried that the resolution be approved.
, City Manager Bennett requested that the purohase of the following add.-
itional equi~ent for the new fire truck be approved:
