Seavy, W. C. Wells, T. A. Johnson, Smith, J. R. Crane; Absent - none. The meetinF was called to order by Mayor Seavy and the minutes of the previous'meetin~s were read and approved. Attorney Ralph Richards appeared before the Board on behalf of James Sin~leton with the request that the Commission approve the transfer of the lease between the City of Clearwater and Sinr.leton to H. E. Langford. It was moved by Mr. Wells, seconded by Mr. Crane, and carried, that the transfer of this lease be approved. A letter was read by Mr. Taylor from residents of Clearwater Beaoh requestinp: that the Commission desip:nate the Beach Fire Station as a polling plaoe ror beach residents in the City Election or Deoember 17. It was moved by Mr. Wells, seconded by Mr. Smith and unanimously carried that the Beach Fire Station be so designated. City Mana~er Taylor read a letter from Warren L. Green, requesting that the City Commission authorize the Buildin~ Inspector to issue a permit for construction of a service station at 3000 Gulf to Bay Boulevard, the pumps to be located 22 feet rrom the curb. It was moved by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Crane and carried that this authorization be ~iven, provided that the 100 foot width of the Boulevard at that point was verified. I ~ 1, ~ ~' t .' " \.. It was moved by Mr. Wells, seconded by Mr. Crane and carried, that H. G. Winro be appointed as City Clerk to serve during the absence of City Clerk cooley who 1s on vacation. Mr. Taylor read a letter to the Commission from the Sea Scout Ship Admiral Sims,' sip,n.ed by John J. Eckhart, as Commodore, requesting that the city grant a lease to the Sea Scouts on the entire building, and adjacent lands, similar to the lease between the city and Boy Scouts on the Scout Hut, on fish plant building. It was moved by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Wells, and carried, that the matter of the rish plant lease be carried over to the next regular meetin~ of the Comrndssion, at which time some definite action is to be taken. H. Tipton to Emmett L. Clayton. It was moved by Mr. Cr~le, seconded by Mr. Smith and carried that this approval be given. Mr. W. Watson Clark appeared before the Commission to request that additional fUnds be provided ror the salary of a Civil Service Board Secretary and sug~ested that whe work or the secretary be combined with that of the Credit Union and pension board clerk. The Board requested that Mr. Clark submit a figure or the exact requirements, at which time the board would take up the matter of additional funds. l ~ 1 A letter from M. J. Pauchey, lessee or the Clearwater Beach Hotel, requesting permission to purchase a liquor license was read by City Manager Taylor. It was moved by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Crane and carried that the Clearwater Beach Hotel application for liquor license be approved. A petition by residents of Palm Park Subdivision was presented berore the Commission requestinr, replacement of a rence damaged by recent enlarg~ent of a drainap.e ditch. The matter was carried over for future attention. It was moved by Mr. JOhnson, seconded by Mr. Crane, and carried that the City purchase a mower to be paid for from the Special City Cleanup Fund. Mayor Seavy appointed Mr. W. C. Wells and City Attorney George Smith to represent the city at the Convention of the Florida State League of MUnicipalities November 24-27. Mayor Seavy told the Board that the present Honor System in connection with parking m~ters was being abused. It was moved by Mr. Crane, seoonded by Mr. Wells, and oarried that the city return to the former method of enrorcing parkin~ regulations by a one dollar fine for violations. At the present time Mr. Clayton is living at 5150 - 4th st., No., st. Pete~sburg. He is the sole owner of the two cabs above mentioned, and will operate under the name of City Cab Company. He will be operating one 1942 Plymouth Sedan and one 1946 Plymouth 4-door Sedan. He will operate from the City Cab stand at the above location. As soon as possible Mr. Clayton desires to move to this City,as ~t will be neoessary for him to do so in order to properly oversee his business. Mr. Clayton has had expreience in the cab business, having worked for the Rite- Rate Cab Company of st. Petersbure for approximately a period of one year. He has made arrangements with'Mr. O'Neal who is the owner o~ the City Cab Company, stand above described, and there is no problem that will be raised ~n oonnection with the stand for'him to operate from. Please consider this as an applioation to transfer the City permits or lioenses to operate the above described cabs from the former owner, Mr. W. H. Tipton, to Mr. Emmett L. Clayton.
