Maroh 25, 1946 Re: Suggested ohanging of nmneB of stre~~~ to numbers. CITY MANAGER, Clearwater, Florida. Dear Mr. Hendrix:- If this does not belong in your department will you kindly send it to the proper destination, whioh I trust ~s not the Official Waste Basket. \ I . r ., I want to register my disapproval of the Changing of the names of th.e streets in our City to numbers as set forth in the Clearwater Sun of Maroh 22d. I have been coming to Clearwater sinoe 1923, have been a property owner sinoe 1934 and a Floridian sinoe 1941. In that time I have seen many ohanges in Clearwater many of them not so good and this change would be &nong the worst. Item #1 of the artiole suggests that Merchants are having difficulty looating new streets in Hill Crest and Crest Lake seotions. All rights, if the residents there want numbers let them have them why ohange the names of streets allover the City? _ Item #2 Our Winter Visitors and residents will looate any street they want without it being neoessary to change from names to numbers. Item #3 The duplioation of names on some of the streets is contusing but there are plenty of names and good ones left in the EngliSh language to remedy the few that are duplicated without Changing all of the names in the City to numbers. I would humbly submit that many large Cities have been getting along very nioely with names for many many years so why do we have to be a numerioal City when the names we have really mean something to us who live here. Residents and Visitors and certainly property owners should have a voice in the final decision. I wonder if they will. Very truly, i. f t. . r ! t ! f t ..;\r ~~ '. t~ '.'~~.~~':. ~~::.:. ~. ,.'
