The Corrmission had berore it a Resolution adopted by the Cour.ty Com-
mission, whic~ Resolution solicited the support of a'll cities within the county
of the measure requiring all new subdivision owners to pay city Hnd count-:l taxes

The southern half of this builaing has been used tor sto~age, building
and repairing of boa ts by members of the eYe for a number of Y'a ars. In
view' of the lacJi of facilities in C learwa ter for storage or work of' this
type, and a~so of the fact that boating is one of the main attractions
that Clearwater has to offer to visi'tors, as well as residents, we feel
that the removal of this building wi1l not only work a hardship on pleasure
boat owners, but will detraot seriously with' winter visitors,

the'ir boa ts trom aroh 1st 10 8th.. Tv.o boats are being shipped fran
Tulsa, Oklahoma whioh require the same servioe. In addition, there are
many other boa ts being shipped from the middle west and New England states

Locally, we are planning an extensive boat buildirg :program next summer
to take oare of the younger meh that are being released from tlE servioes.
These boats are :built in many oases by the owners and wl. thou t this build-
ing, this boat building program that means so muo~ to Clearwater, cannot
be carried out.

. ScOuts and the Ole Snipe Fleet, with the baoking o:f the CYO, re:1mburse

headquarters, :for as \'Ie understand from the Sea Soouts, the present build-
ing :meets their requirements better than any building the oity might be

The urgency of a proper sanitary disposal sewer ibr ';tiat �art o� tb.e
City of Clearwater north of Sunset Point is shown by the break in the
line leading to the ssntia tank vn the premisas oP �rs. P�i.ne, Sunset
Point Road.
This septic tank and line is tt�cier the maintenanes oP the City af
Cle�rwater, It was built pri�ately by �rs. Paine some yo ars a�o, �ut,
about seven ye ars ago, its maintenance was taken over by the Citp oi'
Glearwater, and a11 users were taaed•for its upkeep. -
Th3.s past week, in preparing the property of Lots -13 a�xi 14 for '�he
building af a ho�, this line was br�ken, so that raw sewage from �e
Sunset,�oint Hotel and: other buildiy.,.gs is Plozving ontn the surface,; creat-
ing a health hazard. . . .
The north end of the ejty, Clearwater'� Fron� Door, would show a substan-
�ial �ow�h if s�p�tie ten�s oould be aliminated by the building of a sani-
tary sewer. Surely, it v��ould be easier to build such a aewer, and mor�
eaonamioal to maintain, than that which serves the Beaeh.

City Commi:ssion not to dispose of the so-called Fish P].e.nt building.
T1ie North half is used by the Sea Scouts, an organization v�ioh
� is doing unto7.d �ood for the boys of our City.
`� The South ha1P, which i� used by the Yacht Club is rc�ai.ly� in-
dis�pensable to the �iub Por building, storage and rapair o� our Snipe
Boat fleei.

The Club ha� quite a number of sail boats of the Snipe C�,a,ys,
more than. half of v�d�ich are kept in that bui7ding. Mamy oP t1�e 'sni'pe
ownexs have no other place to keep their boat�. The snipe'�ewners have
buil.t a derriak and eleotria hoi�t on the dock �br lowering 'boats into
t�.e water. - •

'Yr�cht �lub on January 23�d, the follow.i._ng motirn was passed:

The southern half of this buil'ding has been used Por sto�age, builaing
and repairing of boats by members of the CYC for a aumber of years. In
, view�o� the lac� 9f Pscilities in Clesrwater i'or storage or work of this
type, a�d also oP the fact that boating i.s one of the' main attra�tions
that �learwater has to affer to visitors, as wall as residents, we �eel
that ''the removal of t.his building wil.l. not only work a hardship on pleasure
bora.t owners, but w311 detract seriouslSr wi th' winter visitora,
On �arch 8th, 9th and lOth, we are hod�ding the International 5nipe Regatta
i�.ere. This. is t� ninth International held under the aispices oP the G'Y�.
�t the preseRt time, we have f�. ve boa. ts cc�ieing from Havana., �u�a that have
asked %r covered storage s�aoe v�iiere a pr.ofessional boatman can work on
the�ir boa ts froze �'Isrch Zst fp 8th. Tnv boats are bei� sh3.pped Pran
Tulsa, �klahoma whiah require tlie same service. :Ln� addition, there are
m�ny other boats being shipped i�om the middl� west and New �ngland states

Locally, we are plsnning an extensive boat builnirg program negt summer
to take aare of the younger men that are being released from the services.

ing, this 'boat builcling program that means so muc�t t;o GYearwater, oannot
'be ca'rried out. '
We would like to s�g�est that a program be de�s�:oped whe.reby the . Sea
Saout� and the CYC Snipe Fleet, with ths baoking'oP the CYC, reimburse
the ci�Gy for �Ghe differer_•oe in cost that would be entailed in tearing
3own the building �or salvage and the eost of building a new Sea Scout
headquartera, for as we under's�and from the Sea Scouts, t;he pre�en�E build-
in� meets `�heir requirements batter t,han any bui].ding the citg might be
able +.,o put up withau an agtensive cash outlay.
