Tne City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, met in
regular session the evening of September 18th, 1944, at 8:00 ll'C1ook P.M. in
the City Hall with the following members present:

The meeting was duly oalled to order hy Mayo'r Seavy and the minutes
or the previous meeting w,ere, r~~d and allproved. ,
:Mr. Ad W'. Cul1i's apiies'red' bEffor'c' 'the ~oard and urged the Commission
to authorize the obDs~ruction of a new' Sanitary Sewer Line on the South side
of Cedar Street West of Osoeola, it appearing that the cost of suoh installa-
tion ~ould be $1?5.00. The City Commission inf~nned Mr. Cullis that this work
oou1d Dot be done at the present time inasmaoh as the Sanitary Sewer Fund would:
not nave funds available over end above its debt servioe end oost of ordinary
operations bllt th.at his request would be filed and as soon as the money was
available the work: would be done anCl that suoh reque sbwould be oonsidered. in
the order of their application and need. ~
Hr. J. R. Brumby, beinB present, was informed by the Commission
that the City would construct a Sand Trap ~nere an 18 inoh sewer empties
into the Marine Ways with the unders~and+ng that he comply with his contraot
to ~eep the basin properly ~res~e~' and 1n proper state of repair.

Mr. Roy Alqgrim, being present~ ~as informed by Mayor Seavy that
the ~ity Commission could not accept an otfer for the purohase and removal
of the old fish ~lant building on Clear~ater Beach unless the same be sab-
m1tted in writing.
The Oi ty Manager, Mr. F. L. Hendrix, now read an' Ordinanoe to
the Board to be known as Ordinance #501 which Ordinanoe raised the opera-
tional license charge for palmist and fortune tellers from $250.00 to
$1000.00 per year. It WAS moved by Mr. Grice, seoonded by Mr. Lqwe and
oarried that Ordinance #501 be passed on its first reading. It was moved
byMr. Lowe, seoonded by Mr. Stoutam1re and carried that the Ordinance
be ~assed on its second reading. It ~as moved by Mr. Lowe, seoonded by
Mr. Smith and carried that the Ordinance be passed on its third and last read-
ing. Below and set out elsewhere in these mintues is a copy of Ordinanoe
#501.
Mr. Hendrix now read to the Board a letter from Eddie C. Moore,
of the Recreation Department~ concerning ~he painting and other improvements
needed at the munioipal auditorium. The City Commission approved the paint _
ing of the auditorium and requested the City Manager to inspect the audi- '
torium for termite damage and take what steps were necessarr to control this
and 81so to take what steps were necessarr to 'proteGt the ,building from the
flow of surfaoe water.
City Manager Hendrix reported that to date $1,99?,OOO.OO of the
old bonds had been refunded.
Mayor Seavy now presented to the Board a list of those-parties he
had appointed to the City Planning Board. It was moved by Mr. 'Smith, seoonded
by Mr. Lowe and oarried that the appointments be approved and that the terms
of offioe of such members b~ as set ~ut below.
There being no fur ther business to oome before the Board the meeting
was adjourned.

The meeting was dul`y cal'led tci order by Mayor Seavy and the minutes
of the previous meeting were, read and approved. ,
Mr. Ad W. Cu�li's app'eared beYore the Board and urged the Commission
