To do this will renuire the execution of ~ertiflcates
of exchange, and in this case it will expedite matte~s if the
bonds are split into two blocks, one to to to Boston, and the
other to come here.

Please forward $128,000 of the new Refunding Revenue
Certificates, being numbers 2 to 129, inclusive, to the Second
National B~nJi:, Boston, Hussachusetts, to be exchanged for ~129,000
of the now outstanding 4% Revenue Certificate #1, which has been
sent to Caldwell &. Raymond, and we 'Ji 11 in[;t~uct them to :forward
this one certificate to the Second ftational Bank, at Boston, to
be put with the $128,000 certificates which you ure sending, thus
making a total of $129,000.. The exchange on this block of bonds
is covered by. the enclosed certificate, which we have numbered #1,
in pencil. J.his certificate should be completely f'illeli out
except as to date, and should accompany the certificates\:when sent
to the bank in Boston. You will note that this certificate con-
tains a signature identification at the end, to be executed. by
the Cashier of one of your local banks.

In sending these certificntes, together wi th the Tre8s..
urer's excba.nge certificate, you shou4.d advise the Second Nat-
ional Bank that they will receive excuted ,Certificate #1 from
Caldwell 8c Raymond in l~ew Yorl~, which is to be put with the
certificates you are forward~ng. You should send the Second
~ational Banka, letter of indtructiona covering the trtlnsaction
to the eff ect that they are to hold the ne\'v refundinb revenue
certificates in eHerow, to be exchanged with Robert Hawkins &
Company, of Boston, ~dr a like amount of the now outstanding sewer
revenue certificates, all as indicated ill the exchange certificate.
The bank should further be inst:nucted to date the exchange
certificete as of the dnte of e::(chan~e, and you should further
,advise them to return to you the Jt~~ sewer revenu.e certificates
dated October 1, 1938, uncanceled.
Since there is a difference in interest rates between
the 4% sewer revenue certificates and the 3~% new refunding
revenue certificates, there will be an adjustment of' interest from
,<October 1, 1941, the last interest payment date, to March 1, 1942.
(The exchange will probnbly not be made on that date, but since .
the d~fferential is very small the adjustment will be made as of
that date.) We have figured this difference in interest on the
$129,000 certificntes being exchanged in Boston, to be $403.12,
so please send the City's check :for this amount, alont; with the
certificates, with instructions that the check be turned over
to Robert hawkins & Company upon exchange by them 01' the oerti-
f.icates as above outlined.
