THE MTNUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COp.?IlISSION
.._ - ?-----'"'The City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida
met in regular session in the auditorium of the Oity Hall
at 7;30 P. td. June 16, 1941 with the following members pre??nt:.
George R. Seavy, Mayor Commissioner
ti"•"m Watson Clark, Commissioner
Sumner R. Lowe, Commissioner
Jesse G. Smith, Commissioner
FIerbert Grice, Commissioner
The meeting wAS duly called to order by b4ayor-Commissioner
Geo R. Seavy. The minutes of the previous meeting were approv-
ed.
City Manager F. L. Hendrix presented application for buil-
ding permit of R. D?, Thompson acting for Shell 011 Company to
erect a 4000.00 gasoline service station at southwest o'orner,
i.;,.
of Lotus Fath and South Fort Hagrison Ave. i4oved bq Mr, Smith
seconded by nor. Grice and carried that the permit be granted
subject to usual regulations of Building Inspector.
City Manager F.'Z,"'Hendrix presented the request of E. H.
Hurlebaus for a lease to Hangax Site A at the Municipal Aix-
port at Maryniont for a price of X1.00 per yeah for a period
of five years. Dgoved by Mr. Clark, seconded by Cdr. Lowe and
carried that the lease be granted.
A letter was read to .the Board by Mr. Hendrix frorn?C.
Raymond Lee, Chairman of the Civil. Service Board certifying
that James Mason and Cleo Pitta were eligible for appoint-
ment as probationary Fireman or Class "B" in the Clearwater
Fire Department. tl4oved by Mr. Lowe, seconded by Mr. Smith
and carried that Mr. bZason and Mr. Pitts be appointed as
probationary firemen or Class "B'''sub?ect to no change in
salary until July 1,1941.
City Attorney Ralph Richards now read to the Board an
ordinance to be known as Ordinance No.473 being a Or&inance •
repealing ordinance No 472 entitled "An Ordinance levying a
tax on Sales of Gas, ?"later, Electricity, Fuel Oil, and
Telephone Service, Providing for collection of such tax and

' prescri?ring penalities for its violation.
