AN ORDINANCE REGULATING POLITICAL SPEECHES
MADE IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF SOUND-
TRUCKS OR OTHER ELECTRICAL SOUND AMPLIFYING
DEVICES, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF.

WHEREAS the praotice of making political speeches with the
use of sound-truoks or other eleotrical voioe amplifying devices
has greatly inoreased in reoent years; and
WHEREAS the delivery of speeches in this manner in the
business districts and residential districts of the city has annoy-
ed many of our citizens, interfered with the business life ot tne
city, and caused many complaints; and
WHEREAS it is the desire of the City of Olearwater to pro-
vide political oandidates with a place at which they can make
apeeches with sound amplifying devioes and be heard by all who
wish to hear them;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Seotion 1. Political speeohes made with the use of sound-
trucks or other electrioal voice amplifying devioes may hereafter

be made on City owned water front property at the foot of Cleveland
Street, in the area lying between Cleveland Street and the Munioipal
Auditorium.
Seotion 2. No political speeches, delivered in conneotion
with the use of sound-truoks or other electrical sound amplifying
devices, shall herea:t'ter be made in the Oi ty of Clearwater exoept
at the locat1on hereinabove designated.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall not apply to any political
speeches made within a building, nor to anY speeches made anywhere
without the use of sound-trucks or other electrioal volce amplify-
ing devices.
Seotion 4. Any person who violates any of the prov1sions
of this Ordinanoe shall, upon oonviction thereof in the Mun101pal
Oourt of the City ot Clearwater, be punished by a fine not exceed-
1ng One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), or by imprisonment not exceed-
ing ten (10) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
