The City Manager presented a petition from Beauty Parlor Operators objeoting to oocupational lioense assessed against them ~ fifteen dollars on the ftrst operator and two dollars and fifty cents for eaoh additional operator when the Barber/Shop license is only five dollars for the first chair and two dollars and fifty cents for each additional chair, and asked that an adjustment be made to place them on a more equal basis with Barber Shops. This was referred to the City Manager for his consideration. John Williams addressed the Commission with referenoe to the new Negro Cemetery and asked that it be incorporated in the Resolution that this would be a non-profit organization and read an agreement that would take care of the situation. A letter from the Civil Service Board advising that at the election held on January 9th, 1940 for the purpose ot electing a representative of the Police Department to the Civil Service Board"Guy M. Holloway received a majority of the votes cast and will be given a seat on the Board as a representative of the Police Department and that at the eleotion held on January 9th, 1940 for the purpose of eleoting a representative of the Fire Department to the Civil Servioe Board, R. C. Dobson received a majority ot the votes cast and will be given a seat on the Board as a representative of the Fire Department was read. Moved by Mr. Grice, seoonded by Mr. Dempsey and unanimously carried that the transfer of $ 3,500.00 from the Gas and Water Fund to the General Fund be approved.
