The Oity Commission of the City of Clea.rwater met in
regular meeting assembled at the City Hall on J'uly 3rd, 1939,

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The City Hanager read a letter fror:l Captain B. A. Lowe
offering to lease 150 feet. of water-front betVleen Harion
Ruff's dock and the Causeway Bridge on Clearvmter Island.
Moved by Mr. Peeler) seconded by li!r. Dempsey and unanimously
carried that a committee be named to investigate the proposition.
Mr. Grice, Mr. Peeler and If.r. Sendrix were appointed to serve
on the committee.
Mr. C. E. Ware presented an Ordinance amending Section
4 of Dairy Ordinance # ~84. The l~ayor asked Mr. Ware what
dairies he was representing. Mr. Ware said he was represent-
ing all dairies in this section except the smaller dairies
such as Albritton's etc. and none from T8Illpa. Moved by Mr.
Peeler, seconded by Mr. Baker and unanimously carried that
Ordinance Number 449, AN ORDINANCE TO .A!,WD SECTION FOUR
(4) OF THE DAIRY CODE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, ORDINANCE
NUMBER 290, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLmSHING A DAIRY
CODE; REGULATING THE PRODUCTION, HANDLING, DISTRIBUTING,
LABELING, GRADING AND SALE OF HILK AND MILK PRODUCTS SOLD
OR TO BE SOLD IN THE CITY OF CI3ARWATER, FLORIDA; ALSO
REGULATING INSPEOTION A.l-ffi PERMITS FOR DAIRIES IN DISTRIBUTING
PLANTS AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF CERTAIN FEES A..~
CHARGES TO COVER A PART OF THE COST OF INSPECTION OF DAIRIES.
DAIRY FARM:S OR DISTRIBUTORS SELLING OR DISTRIBUTING MILK OR
MILK PRODUCTS IN THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FIXING THE AMOUNT
THEREOF AND PRESCRIBINq. A PENALTY FOR THE VIOUTION OF THE

The Oity Manager presented the Electrical Code to be

The Oity Manager, reporting on the oondition of the
ladies' toilet in the Library, stated that the ventilators
open into the Reading Room and suggested that th~~11a~OlS
be changed to open on the outside which would cost about
$ 300.00.
Moved by Mr. Peeler, amended by Mr. Grice and
seconded by Mr. Baker that the work be let after receiving
competitive bids.
The City Hanagar reported on water on Mandalay Drive
near the Pelican Pavilion. The City Engineer presented a
drawing showing the proposed storm sewer lines which would
take care of this situRtion. Mr. Butler stated that Mr.
. Strickland' of the Mosq,ui to Control Board had agreed several
times to furnish the labor to put in stann sewer which
would take care of a majority of the wnter on the Island,
but the City had never been able to get him to fulfill his
promise. Moved by l~r. Peeler, seconded by Mr. Grioe and
unanimously carried that the City furnish the material if
the Mosq,uito Control Board will furnish the labor.
Ivloved by l~r. Baker, see onded by Mr. Peeler and carried
that Mr. W. D. Outman be ~aid fifty dollars on his County
rrax Survey.
Moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Dempsey and
unanimously carried that a transfer of $ 5,000~OO from
the Gas and Water Fund to the General Fund on June 25th
be approved.
The City Manager suggested that a corom! ttee be
appointed to make appraisals of City property. 1~. Peeler
was appointed to serve on ,a committee with the City Manager
and C~ty Clerk for making the appraisals.
MX. Lee Baker ~resented a petition ror a reduction
or taxes on Lots 1 to 5 inclusive of Belleair HiBhlands.
Moved by 15:r. Bal<:el', seconded by loIr. Grice and unanimously
oarried that the sum of $ 141.98 be acoepted in full
settlement of City taxes and improvement liens on this
propertyl
Moved by r;~r. Peeler, seconded by 1ftr. Baker and
unanimously carried that the Offer of Fugazzi Brothers to
settle all taxes and improvement liens amounting to $ 2,254.50
on certain Lots in Marymont for $ 2,250.00 payable $ ?50.00
oash and $ 500.00 every 90 days until paid, be acoepted.
Moved by Mr. Balcer, seconded by Mr. Peeler and
unanimously oarried that Ordinance # 448, AN ORDINANCE
RELATING TO THE Ii-AMES OF STREETS IN THE cr TY OF CLEARWATER,
be passed on its third and final reading.
Moved by Mr. Peeler, seoonded by Mr. Dempsey and
unanimously oarried that taxes on property of Hannah
Drew Estate, looated on Drew Street, be settlea for $ 217.73.
