MINUTES OF THE MEETII3G OF T$E CITY CCMMISSION
April 20th, 1939.
The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met
in session on April 20th, 1939, with the following
members present:
R. L. Baker
R. A. Dempsey
Herbert Grioe
W. W. Peeler
• Absent; E. B. Caller, Jr., Mayor-Commissioner.
Moved by Mr. Dempsey, seconded by Mr: Peeler and
carried that Mr. R. L. Baker act as Mayor during the
absence of Pdr. Caller.

hSr. Thomas Hamilton presented a letter with

Ewing's First Addition. he?,l`7??e? was Deferred to

the City Manager and City Clerk.•
Mr. Roy Kingston addressed the Commission with
reference to the City condemning right-oP-way across
his property for street purposes. He offered to sell
the City his entire property for ? 30,000.00, payable
? 3,000.00 per year; said offer to hold good until
Suly 1, 1939. He also asked that the City extend
Lake Street to the Gulf to Bay Boulevard.
Mr. Grant Greer reported on the Gas Association
meeting in Jacksonville and invited members of the
Commission to hear Mr. Agee speak in Tampa on the
• evening of April 21st.
• Mr. George A. Wilson of 709 North Fort Harrison
Avenue presented a petition with 42 signatures objecting
to a fish house being operated on North Fort Harrison
?. Avenue. After considerable discussion from other property
owners of the same neighborhood, action was deferred until
?? legal advice clan a obtained from the City Attorney.

Mr. S. W. Tillie offered the City a 1934 Model
V-8 Ford in settlement of taxes and assessments in
amount of ? 312.33. The offer was referred to the
City Manager and City Clerk.
An ofPer?of ? 50.00 in settlement of taxes on
certain lots in Keystone Manor by Mr. William G.
Gibson was declined.
Mr. Leo Butler reported on Water Nall # 13,
which has a pump in bad oondition. Moved by Mr.
Grace, seconded by Mr. Peeler and unanimously
carried that the City Manager be instructed to buy
anew pump at a coat of ? 976.38.
Two transfers of ? 5,000.00 each, from the Gas
and Water Fund to the General Fund on`?? ?'a??h I15.th and
19th were approved.
The City Manager was instructed to purchase a
new automobile for the Police Department from Thayer
Motor Company, who was the lowest bidder.
The City Manager opened bids on trucks. Thayer
Motor Company was the lowest bidder. Moved by Mr. Peeler,
seconded by Mr. Grace and unanimously carried that the
City Manager be instructed to purchase three trucks at
the lowest bid prise of ? 2,174.46.
Moved by Mr. Peeler, seconded by Mr. Dempsey and
unanimously oarried that each Policeman be allowed one
day per weeps off duty.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned.
