The City Co~iasion of the City of Clearwater, Florida, met
on June 20, 1938, in regular meeting assembled, with the following
members present:

It was moved by Mr. Batohelor, seconded by Mr. Barry and ca~ried
that the p~opoaition of Mr. Wilder to deed'to the City'one-half of
certain properties in consideration ~f cancellation of delinquent
taxes on the other half of said property be deferred.
It,waa moved by Mr. Batohelor, seconded by Mr. Barry and carried
1hat the City Manager have a survey made to determine whether or not
Mr. Wilder's garage is in Pa~ Avenue on Clearwater Beach.
It was moved by Mr. Batohelor, seconded by Mr. Barry and carried
thAt the application of Mr. Butler for lease of a lOO-foot dock space
on the Island be referred to Mr. Nichols for investigation and report.
A letter from Mr. J. C. Dryden was read complaining of a11eged
discr~ination by the Police Department in the matter of having
wreclced cars cleal"ed from the highway. The matter was discussed
with t~ Chief of Police. It was moved by Mr. Batchelor, seconded
by Mr. G~ice and carried that the matter be tabled.

mIEREAS, t he Clearwater Safety League has been endeavoring to
reduce the motor accidents in Clearwater and to aid this program has
been notifying various persons who have been reported as violating
regulations, and
VlffEREAS, There is still in the opinion of the League of'i'iciaJ.s
mora vlo1ations of the traffic ordinances than there should be, and
vmEREAS, the League believes tha. t for the safety of aJ.l Clear-
water citizens that traffic o~d1nances should be obeyed.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS COMMITTEE OF THE SAFETY LEAGUE,
to ask that the City Commission give its approval to a strice inforce-
ment :program for 'traffic ordinances by the City Police Force.

WHEREAS I the ordinance is noVl in a position to be enforced,
with the result that these errors and omdasions will be correoted~
NOW TEEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS COMMITTEE OF THE CLEAR*
WATER SAFETY LEAGUE, that the thanks of the League be expressed to
the City for its cooperation and effort in this oonneotion, and
yo express their belief that this action will be of benefit to a11
of the oommunity.

It was moved by Mr. Barry, seconded by Mr. Batchelor and oa.rried
that the Police Department be instructed to oarry out the regulations
of the Tra~fic Ordinance.
It was moved by Mr. Barry, seconded by Mr. Grice and oarried that
the City Manager be authorized to buy a two-years' supply of brick for
rechecking at the gas plant.
It was moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Batchelor and carried
that Mrs. WlUtledge be allowed to pya taxes on her property on the
same basis as if it had been paid in 1935, and that $150 be accepted
as partial payment of this amount; this arrangement due to a mis-
understanding at the time o~ paying Some of her taxes in 1935.
Mr. Barry introduoed an ordinance to establish a charge 1'o:r
sewer servioe in the City o~ Clearwater for its first :reading. It
was moved by Mr. Barry, seconded by Mr. Grice that the ordinance be
passed its first reading, and upon roll call the following vote was
polled:

Mr. Baker
Mr. Barry
Mr. Grice
Nays: None
Absent and not voting: Mr. Marsh

Florida, entitled "An Ordinance Defining, Regulating and Governing
Contractors within the City of Clearwater, Florida; Requiring
Examination of all such Painting Contractors; Prescribing the Time
when such Examina~on shall be Conduoted; Specifying and Fixing
the Fee for Examination; Specifying and Fixing the Amount of the
Occupational License Fees for Sucp Painting Contractors; Creating
a Board of Examiners for Painting Contractors; Defining the Duties
and Powers of tho Board; Speci1'ying and Providing Penalties For
