The City Commission of the City of Clen~vater, Florida, met
on January 3, 1938, in regular meeting assembled, with the following

Mr. Davidson of Dunedin addressed the Commission applying for
location f'or a real estate office on the beach. Moved by Mr. Marsh,
seconded by Mr. Batchelor ~d carried that the nlatter be deferred
until tIle Cit1 Commission has an opportunity to view the property.
1!r. Peterson of Clearwater Beach addressed the Commission asking
permission to reinstall the sign in the City parkway, complaining that
a sign cannot easily be seen when located back on his property because
of automobiles parking in the property next door. Mr. Peterson was
advised that signs in the parkway could not be allowed, but that a
proper sign could be erected over the sidewalk if it complies with the
building code.
Moved by :Mr. Marsh, seconded by l~r. Batchelor and carried that
an of'fer of $400 each on Lots Nina (9) and Ten (10) Block Twenty-three
(23) of Magnolia Park, recently acquired by the City in tax foreclosure,
be accepted.
Moved by Mr. Marsh, seconded by Mr. Bat6helor and carried that
an offer of $600 on the East 40 feet o~ Lot Twelve (12) and the West
35 feet of Lot Thirteen (13) of Palm Bluff, recently acquired by the
City on tax ~oreclosu~e, be accepted.
Mr. Batchelor introduced the following resolution:

COVERING THE CONSTRUCTION OF 25 GROINS EACH BE-
TWEE:N 200 to 300 FEET'1N THE GULF OF MEXICO AT
CLEAR\VATER BEACH, CIEARWATER, FLORIDA, WPA NO.
52-7-lf-93.
WHEREAS~ it is in the interest of public welfare that work on
the Groin Project WPA No. 52-'7-G-93 oonsisting of' construction o:r"25
Groins each batween 200 and 300 teet long with 50 feet additional cut
ofr~ be started at once.

NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Board or City Commissioners
or the City of Clearwater, Florida:
Seotion 1. That the' City Commissioners or the City or C1.earwat"er,
Florida, apply to the Works Progress Adnllnlstrntion for per.mlssion
'to i:rmnediately begin oonstruction of WPA No. 52-7-0-93 oonsisting
of constructing 25 groins each between 200 to 300 feet long with
60 reet additional out off.

Florida, will hlrnish for the operation of the projeot all neoessarr
slc:illed labor that 1s not available from the local relief' rolJ.s.
Section 3. That the City Commissioners of the City of Clearwater,
Florida, will buy all necessary materials required as Bet up in the
approved project.
Section 4. Thwt the City Commissioners of the City of Clearwater,
Florida, will assume the ~lll reBponsibi~ity for oompleting the
project, tr WPA funds are not available ~or that purpose.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Oommission of the City of
Clearwater, Florida, this third day of Januar,y, A. D. 1938.
