Th~ City Commission of the City or Clearwater, Florida, met on July 5, 1937, in regu1ar meeting assembled, with the following members present: / <.:./..~:,/.... , .', .. Mr. R. E. Green, Mayor-Commissioner Mr. L. A. Harsh Mr. D. O. Batchelor Mr. R. L. Baker Mr. J. A. Barry- It was moved by Mr. Balcel', seconded by Mr. Marsh and carried that the property or J. H. Trott be withdrawn from foreclosure pro- ceedings until July 1, 1938. Mr. M. H. Jones addressed the Commission objecting to sidewalk assessment against the property of Mr. Jesse Cox on Greenwood Avenue. It was moved by Mr. Marsh, seconded by Mr. Barry and carried that the City Attorney be instructed to draw a reso1ut1on cancelling the cost of sidewalk in front of Mr. Dox' property, in exchange for dedication - of an additional ten (10') reet for right-of-way. It was moved by Mr. Marsh, seconded by Mr. Barry and carried that the City Manager be instructed to ask WPA to open the $16,000 sidewalk project. Moved by Mr. Marsh, seconded by Mr. Batchelor and carried that the Cit~ Manager be authorized ~o proceed to repair the streets north of Stevenson's Creek. It was moved by Mr. Batchelor, seconded by Mr. Marsh and carried that the tax adjustments recomr:ended by~..~.a..x adjustment committee be appro',ed. Mr. Marsh introduced the fo~lowing resolution~ A RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO THE PROPOSED WPA PROJECT OOVERING COMPLETING RECREATION PROJECT WPA NO. 52- 922, CONSLSTING OF PAINTING OF AUDITORJID~, REFITTING OF DOORS AND WINDOWS, REPAIR OF TIN AND SHINGLE ROOFS, REP AIR OF CELOTEX TORN OUT IN CONSTRUCT ION OF TRUSSES, PAINTING OF BLEACHERS CONSTRUCTED AT NEW ATHLETIC PARK ~D THE CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SHELTERS AT CLEARWATER BEACH PARK. WHEREAS, It is in the interest or the public we1fare that the completing of the recreation project WPA No. 52-922, consisting of painting of auditorium, refitting of doors and windows, repair of tin and shingle roofs, repair of ce10tex torn out in oonstruction of trusses, painting of bleachers constructed at New Athletic Park, and the construc- tion of two shelters at Clearwater Beach Park. . . : NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of' City Commissioners of the City of' Clearwater, Flor~da: ., ;, ' ;.. ,....(: "', I , ',;;.:. :..-;'IQIIl_......~ '., J' : ;....:;l!... That the City Commissioners of the City of Clearwater, Florida, will furnish for the operrt ion of the Project, all necessary skilled labor that is not available from local relief ro1ls. f' . I j ., ,'''~ ' , . , ,. " , , '/' '. I'. '.j Section 3. That the City Commissioners of the City of Olearwater, Florida, will buy all the necessary materials for this project. Section 4. That the City Commissioners of the City of Clearwater, Florida, will assume the f\111 responsibility of completing the project, if WPA funds are not available for that purpose. Mr. Barry introduced the fo11owing resolution: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY ATTORNEY TO SETTLE CERTArn MANDAMUS SUITS PENDING AGAINST THE CITY. Wl1EREAS, there have been heretofore filed aga:tnst the Cit7 of Clearwater certain mandamus suits, and ~EAS, it is the opinion of the City Attorney that it is to the best interest of the City to sett1e said suits. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, in regular meeting assembled: 1. That the City Attorney be and he is hereby" authorized and empowered to enter into negotiations for a settlement of the mandanma suits em- bracing the subjeot matter involved in ~e following mandamus suits, to-wit: . .
